And they could have actually answered the Simone question and spun it in their own favor--"We believe it is important to listen to our fans, so of course we brought Gail back." Dodging it just makes them look worse.

Bring back the old numbering, come on, or do you guys want to go down in history as the jerks who eventually rob detective comics out of a #1000 issue landmark.
Congress shall make no law . . . abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Detective Comics will have a 1000th issue, and I'm sure it will be noted in some way. The fact that "1000" isn't the official issue number is irrelevant. Even if they chose to number that issue "1000", that doesn't mean they couldn't return to the new numbering on the next issue.
Plus other series have reached a 1000th issue before, it's just that they aren't as well known.
It doesn't matter what the writer, artist, or editor had in mind when they created it, or what they said in an interview;
all that matters is what is on the page.
I thought that long before this interview. They're throwing everything against the wall and whatever sticks stays and the rest gets recycled into the "idea" bin. Seriously Jim Lee and Dido went with Bob Harris after what he did to X-Men and Marvel all those years? Chased Claremont off the title he made with years of service? Though a lot of that was due to Jim Lee and company's slow artwork and Harris's constant editorial interference. Meanwhile over at Marvel they are growing titles and diversifying their lineup with female teams while not making it all T&A but based on the strength of their female characters.
Seriously you can't interview someone like that. I know you want answers but being rude won't get them for you. But if Harris would answer that it would reveal they really don't have a plan in place and are playing it by ear. Throwing $hit at the wall and seeing what sticks. Why did they fire Gail Simone? That's the mystery. Why they rehired her? A question we already know the answer to - fan pressure.
