Balls.
No offense meant to Lemire and Fawkes, who are strong creators, but their Constantine voice is...not perfect. And Lemire's whole Constantine backstory was probably the worst bit of Justice League Dark.
Would it have killed us to get a british creator on this, if we were going to switch things up?
Happy about m ore Fawkes though, certainly.

Reacting as I'm reading;
Bummed about no Zub on Birds of Prey. Marx does solid, but ultimately unexciting, work for me.
Starlin on Stormwatch. Whhhhhhhhhy. Why must this book be so cursed?

Once again Bleeding Cool was on the money.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!
Why they announce the switch in creative teams so non chalant. I'm really pissed at DC for what they did here. I was really exited for BoP and Zub seemed pumped as well. All the time he spent on these boards answering questions, not to mention writing. Really, really disappointing.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?
Jim Zub was the only one giving hope to me actually caring about Birds of Prey again and they screw it up. Sorry but Amethyst is cute and all, but the writing is beyond mediocre and I have never truly enjoyed any issue of that comic. Sometimes, I even forgot that I ever read Amethyst. I'll carry this with me to the grave. I'm definitely dropping Birds of Prey.
LOL DC Comics
the creative musical chairs just know no ends
So Jim Zub has nothing going on with DC now. What I'm finding odd is that he just made PR rounds not too long ago. On top of that, I can't possibly imagine a direction that would require them dumping him. IIRC, he said he was designing his run around the characters to make things more flexible for the plot (Snyder-driven tie ins and what not).
Ah well. This is really a loss for DC, as Zub actually has a fan base somewhere.
Also, not a fan of them sending Barrows back to Titans. That could just be that I wish Titans would have a lighter direction, but I get the feeling that that's not going to happen.

I'm fine with Venditti getting replaced. He's got more coming with the company, and I don't know that I particularly wanted an american writing that book.
But neither do I want canadians writing that book, especially two who write very mainstream superhero fiction or emotionally endearing everyman stuff. There needs to be a bit of an edge on a Constantine book -- and neither guy has demonstrated any of that.
Maybe Fawkes has it. Lemire does not.
And yes, I'm extremely disappointed that we're losing Zub for Marx. That's a big downgrade.

Changing creative teams before a run even starts is awful. I'm okay with Marx, but even if Lemire is a good writer, it seems like too much to put him on Constantine. Wasn't he reluctant to even take on Green Arrow? Maybe Fawkes will help him lighten the work load, but come on.

I have to be one of the few who's not head over heels with Lemire on JLD. I just don't get the hype around that guy.
He's hit or miss, really. If he's got one real weakness, for me, it's that he's not very witty. His characters are all a bit expository, not a lot of quipping, which I think is a fun part of comics.
But he does some extremely incisive character work. He made the Baker family absolutely lovable in just an issue of Animal Man.

Gees, so many changes! DC is playing musical chairs with their writers, while Marvel is doing the same with their artists! Well... I'll still give them all a shot, but I maintain my worry about Lemire overworking himself. Hmmm, maybe he'll do an arc of Constantine and then give full reign to Fawkes?
