If Joker's plan all along was to turn Batman into a laughing kill machine (Which I'm guessing is what it is, considering he's been laughing that batman will be the one to kill everyone) it seems a little odd that batman and robin will be the only title to actually deal with that. I'm still guessing it's just a freak dressed up as batman to mess with Damian I suppose.
Really crazy pumped for this issue given how 15 was the ONLY tie in (aside from 'tec, which is barely a tie in really) to actually make the joker both threatening and interesting again. Hopefully they pull it off again in this one.
"...I'm not giving up on you...You're supposed to be strong! You're supposed to be prepared! How could you let him do this to you?..."
Frak, they can't kill this Scrappy Damien Doo thing soon enough.

I sincerely hope that's not the real Batman cause if it is then this storyline hits a Cry for Justice low here,at least when it comes to making the villain looking cool.I'm a bigger villain fan but this is ridiculous.
Yeah, not sure I really buy this for Damian. He certainly has to understand the concept of altered mental state and mind control.
I'd expect something more like, addressing the Joker, "You shouldn't have done that. Not to HIM." "Wait there. I'm COMING for you, and I've got a great joke. It will leave you in stitches."
"Trying to get under my skin, clown? Not a bad idea." as he rips off the Joker's face.
"Here's the joke: What did the prince do to the jester while the king wasn't looking?"
"Do you have it yet? No? Okay, here it is:"
"Anything he wanted."

I enjoyed the previous tie in issue but I see worrying things in that preview that make me wonder if this issue is even worth it.
Current Top Ten Comics: Earth 2, Red Hood and the Outlaws, Talon, Demon Knights, Transformers: Regeneration One, Young Avengers, Batman Beyond Unlimited, Nightwing, Flash, Aquaman
YESSSSSS.
I didn't forget about last issue, god it was the highlight of my Bat-December, and I am so ready to continue it. Also I just realized that the giant egg is Robin's Egg Blue. Headdesk. I honestly don't care if the story jives with the rest, if that's really Batman, if it's not, makes no difference to my enjoyment. Because Gleason understands horror and Kalisz understands the unnatural colors that need to go with The Joker. The acid bath, oil slick. POP! colors that are almost TOO poppy. Here I see red, green, yellow, blue, violet, orange. Like a shroom-trip. Like a hostile version of Frank Quitely's original Batman and Robin # 1 cover, where the lively neon is replaced by sickly fluorescent that illuminates nothing but the grit caked onto the walls and the rust on the bars on the window.
It will be a little convenient if Damian's fooled by the "old not really Batman trick". But when Joker pulls that he's usually half-assing and has some guy, admittedly in shadows, in a kind of terrible knock-off of a Batman costume, because that's way more funny and then he's on to the next bit.
This costume or replica looks pretty accurate. So unless he's raiding one of Batman's closets, I'm going to assume it's the real Batman.

A really fun issue.
After deciding to drop Batman because I had grown to really dislike the whole Death of the Family story line I skipped Batman and Robin #16 but when I was at the shop today I decided to peek at it and kicked myself for skipping it. So I nabbed #15 and #16 and remembered why I loved this title, I should have put more faith in Tomasi and believed that he could could create a solid story among the mess of Dotf.
I mean, sure, the "It wasn't really Batman..." twist wasn't that exciting but Damian's actions were, that he loved his father enough and trusted him enough to hope that if he completely threw down his defenses and gave in that Bruce wouldn't kill him. The fact that it wasn't really Bruce does nothing to change that sentiment, Damian stood up and not only showed his love for his father but he also decided he wasn't going to play the Joker's game. That's strength, and I loved it.
Remember when Damian thought Oberon Sexton was Bruce Wayne?
