I'm confused, how is this suppose to be an ongoing series? Are new characters going to be joining the Arena?

It's "ongoing" in the same way that Initiative was, or 52 (we're just not told in this case). It has a set end, but it's so long they call it an ongoing.

I've posted about the ongoing thing - minis sell less, and a static size means it cannot react to the market to go longer or shorter. It will likely end in the the 35-45 issue range, barring surprising sales.

The story will jump around the timeline, so Darkhawk can both have died and be seen plenty of times before the end of the series. I think he's alive, but he might not be and have a significant presence both in scene time and plot/thematic importance.

Darkhawk and X-23 have plainly done a lot by Day 8, judging by solicits and issue 3. Probably everyone has done something. Apart from Red Raven. I doubt anyone buried her. Maybe she got a field cremation to stop disease.

Which is disgusting. If he had to do that gag, he should've whipped up a new character to do it, rather than randomly killing one who already exists. But more than that, there should have been some frigging follow-up! That was just bad, stupid writing.

And I say issue 2 should've done more of day 1, showing the reactions of a bunch of characters. As it is, by jumping ahead and then only getting back to it later, the tragedy won't be as fresh in readers' minds. The longer it takes to follow up on it, the more readers will have moved on, and the less effective the follow-up will be.

And it just feels disrespectful to the characters to not follow up immediately. The more that's delayed, the more insulting it is to the characters who get killed.

Everyone is kinda assuming it's the "mother" from the Defenders series, but so little is said about her in-series that the information clarifying that has to come from interviews, and most of them have been muddy on the subject from what I recall.
