Default Valiant Comics predictions (5 year window).

So, for all the Valiant fans here I was wondering what kind of predictions you all have for Valiant within a 3-5 year window? Where do you think they'll be within the industry and how many books do you think they'll be publishing at that time? Also, do you see any kind of movie or video game releases featuring the characters within that time window? Let's hear it!

As far as publishing I could see Valiant being the #4 comic book publisher by 2017 with a solid 12-13 books published monthly (maybe 15-16) and a good 4-5 mini's having been published leading up to then. I think they have some light internal goals and know what they're doing and I see them doing quite well over the next several years, but the #3 spot may be out of reach unless they're publishing 20+ titles with all of which doing very well in orders.

Movies.....well, I think we will be close to our first Valiant feature film by that time and I believe it will probably be a live X-O film, but I wouldn't be surprised to see something animated before hand. If the X-O film does well than I think we would see a Bloodshot motion picture follow it within two years after.

More than anything, I hope they stick to their quality-over-quantity thing they have going right now. I'd prefer the current 5 good books over 5 good and 5 average/poor books.

I think I remember reading that they hired JMS to write a Shadowman film, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was the first Valiant film. And a Bloodshot film's been talked about for years, but who knows what stage it's at now. I'd actually love if they released a movie that wasn't tied into one of their books. I know next to nothing about the Valiant universe, so it'd be a great introduction to have a film, then release a book shortly after.

    Captain Marvel, Young Avengers,
Lazarus, Mind the Gap, Peter Panzerfaust, Saga

Dinesen mentioned, in response to a question about big plans in 2013, that the Summer of Valiant 2012 was no accident. I expect at least two new titles to spin out of Harbinger Wars/Planet Death. Rai would be the most obvious, but don't count out HARD Corps (would make sense in a family of titles with Bloodshot and Harbinger) or Secret Weapons (I can't get Neville Alcott's comment about not having a "team" he can trust out of my head). An Eternal Warrior series next Fall/Winter, a la this year's Shadowman launch, would be a welcome addition as well.

They also need to expand into toys/collectibles and other licenses (trading card series is already on its way), along with more VALIANT merchandise like posters, t-shirts, etc. It's just a great extra revenue stream, and once you have the logistics set up, you can basically sit on the surplus and distribute as people order.
VALIANT, Saga, Manhattan Projects, Locke & Key, Hawkeye, Young Avengers.

Yeah they really need to get on the T-shirts, not only will it generate revenue it will also have an advertising effect and increase exposure.

That one seems like a no brainer and a lot of people are clamoring for them.

I think they are doing everything in the right direction. Moving slow, but steady and with a good amount of quality. Maybe this year we get another new title or two(Ninjak or maybe Rai?)

Yeah, Bloodshot, Shadowman and Harbinger, all have great logos for T-shirts. Also action figures would be awesome. I think that Bloodshot would be the easiest to make a movie from and XO can be a cool cartoon.

By end of 2015(3yrs out) if they can have about 10-12 titles up and running with healthy readership and sustain 1-2 minis as needed, either crossover or character introduction, I'll feel very comfortable with VEI being locked in to readers minds and pockets. If during this next 3yrs they can get either a video game or animated cartoon going the better. Both of those markets are great for cross promotion. As soon as some quality T-Shirts are made as well, those will get snatched up and worn as well.

Bloodshot as a film had been at I think Paramount for about 5yrs or so now. JMS doing a Shadowman script is news to me, that would be interesting to see.

I would like to see some animation along the lines of those Marvel Series on G4. I can just see that as a great medium for these characters (XO, Harby, Rai, and Ninjak come to mind immediately).

The loodshot announcement was fairly recent. Just before the Summer of VALIANT launched. You may be thinking of Harbinger, which has been in development for several years. The JMS announcement was made around SDCC this year.
