Default Comic Book Legends Revealed: "Peanuts," "Cable" & Hurricane Sandy

Did Supergirl creator Al Plastino draw months worth of "Peanuts" strips in case Charles Schulz got ill, or were the motivations behind the strips more sinister? And did an issue of "Cable" correctly predict Hurricane Sandy?

With them doing a Peanuts series at Boom , maybe Plastino's strips now can be seen in their entirety .

Possibly, but I doubt the Schulz museum is particularly proud of strips being produced in an attempt to undercut Schulz, ya know?

The two strips shown there seem quite "off" to me. Especially Snoopy's meanness towards Woodstock.

Plastino has noted in other interviews that he definitely had a bit of an adjustment period on the strip.

The part where throws his dish at Charlie Brown is something I have seen a few times in Shlutz strips from what I remember.

It would be kinda unique to see if they ever allow them to be published. It shocks me they are allowing a comic series to be done with the characters now.

In the page where Plastino creates Supergirl look how Superman is rendered while flying. It's a Wayne Boring position. I've read that Plastino was told to ape Boring when drawing Superman. So whether it's Peanuts or Superman poor Plastino had to be in another man's shadow. Similarly John Buscema was encouraged by Marvel to look more like Jack Kirby, and Buscema wasn't happy about this.

At least once Plastino re-drew Kirby's Superman, so, yeah, he definitely has an interesting history with being used on other creators' work.
