I find it amusing that Lee is of the belief that his version of the suit will be the iconic take 75 years down the line. As much as I've enjoyed his work over the years, that was a tad much...

(Hopefully I'll be around in 75 or so years time to see if he was right or not )

I really need to laugh in his face at the next con. I need to go up and say, So Jim. The new 52 superman suit will be the Iconic take and be remembered in 75 years. Then I will proceed to laugh my ass off in his face.

    Ahh, Something to shoot for.

Lee tried it before at Marvel and was run out, now he has done it in at DC but has one of his best friends running the show with a Parent company who really could care less.

So we got the New 52 Suit.
In my opinion it didn't have anything to do with the lawsuit and didn't have anything to do with with the egoes of those in charge. The trunks are just outdated. It was past due time to mondernize the character.

I think Lee even coming out with a statement like adkal mentioned and actually saying with a straight face proves it was all about ego.

But I doubt he came up with the idea of going away with the trunks all by himself. They call him, told him they wanted to rid of the red trunks so he draw the character trunkless. That he wishes his rendition of the super suit survives for the next 75 years. What artist wouldn't?

A artist that isn't delusional like Jim Lee is.

It's not a wish, it's what he actually believes.

There have been dozens of 'trunkless' renditions done over the years, many of which are far better than the one we've been presented with.

Well, you two seem to be talking about different things. Francisco said Jim Lee wishes that his version will last for 75 years.

Adkal seems to be suggesting that Jim Lee believes his version of the costume will last for 75 years and become "the new iconic look," and you (Lexrules) feel that this belief proves Jim Lee is "delusional."

There's an important difference between "wishing for something" and "believing it is inevitably going to happen."

What were Jim Lee's exact words about the new Superman costume design? Does anyone have a link to whatever it was that he said about how long he "hopes" or "expects" that his design will actually last before it gets replaced by something else?

I know it was at NYCC - some dismissed it as him deadpanning it, whereas others have said he was 'serious'.

    Alas, I wasn't there
