Probably for me ether Extinction or Afterlife.

retribution had some good items in it, really liked the intro and the music that acompanied it. jill was kinda wasted thruout the film, until the final battle witch did NOT disappoint at all, brutal!
some very cool imagry with the iceblocked battleships amid a frozen wasteland

I only watch them for the cheese factor, but I thought Extinction worked better as a film than the others. The spare, Mad Max-like open air, post-apocalypse vibe it worked for most of the movie made for a better backdrop than the others

Of the live-action movie the one I thought was the best was Extinction, but I also watched that one on fast-forward because I didn't really care to watch a Resident Evil movie; so it's the only one, beside the last one, that I haven't "really" seen. But anyways, that one actually seemed to have some good action, the zombies looked pretty cool. It seemed to be them mashing up Mad Max with Day of the Dead.

Apocalypse for me, mainly as I didn't expect it to be anything like it was. I thought they'd move further away from the game lore but was pleasantly surprised they included so many aspects.

    For me it goes:

    RE1 > RE4 > RE5 > RE2 > RE3

Much like the games, the first installment was the most straight-up horror. Each sequel was further geared towards Action until both RE4 (game) and Afterlife just decided to have fun with it and indulge their own silliness.

I think the first movie worked best because not only was Alice just a typical badass chick with no crazy Mary Sue powers, you also had Rain, badass black leader guy and frickin' Kaplan. Remember Brave Sir Kaplan who resisted teh temptation to avoid painful death via being eaten alive in what appeared to be a hopeless situation. He'd go on to not only escape the ravenous horde, he'd save our heroes from the Licker.
...then get killed by the Licker. That was crap.

But yes, the first film had a simple story that worked and who can ever forget the massacre at the beginning or the Laser Hallway or that utterly perfect ending with the pan over ruined Raccoon City while this plays.

The only secondary character I liked as much as the first film's group was Carlos. He starred in the only good part of Extinction. Really don't like that movie...

I wouldn't call what they did include game lore; they just pulled some monsters, which is what they've always done, and pulled some action scenes straight from Resident Evil 5...and that was done pretty badly, it doesn't look anywhere near as good as in the game.

I didn't even know there was so much of them.

I would have never guessed that, hell, i guess it means that some people watched them.

    Shocking.

I meant more along the line of characters, bad choice of words.
