Default Who Should Lead the Justice League?!

Seeing that there was some tension between Aquaman and Batman in recent issues over who should lead the league I was wondering if people thought they should have a rotate leadership or who people think should actually lead the team? Aquaman does have the skill to lead a Nation but I think Bats is the better statistician. Is there anyone else not mentioned in the pole that you think should step up?

You probably mean tactician, not statistician. Though I'm sure he's probably fairly decent at that too.

After five years, you'd think that they would have settled on a routine by now. They probably don't need a designated leader.

Having said that, Batman is going to tell them what to do anyway, so it makes sense for him to be the leader.

I don't really see why a specific leader is necessary, but I guess if forced to pick one, I'd go Batman, for the reason stated above (Batman more or less naturally assumes that position given his characterization and skillset).

For some reason, and I've never been totally sure why, I've never really "bought" Batman as the official leader of the League. It just doesn't suit him or them so well.

I liked the "Justice League Year One" idea of Barry Allen being the leader, on the basis that everyone trusted him to think of the most sensible course of action. But that was in a less powered League without the Trinity....

Honestly, I quite like it as it is now - a group of people coming together and doing their bit, rather than a more formalised structure.

    ....

    Still miss Hal though. :(

I don't see why they need a 'formal' leader, but if I was in I'd probably want to do whatever Batman thought was the best thing to do!! Also Aquaman can lead a nation, but it's not anywhere near the same, that's like saying David Cameron (under the assumption he is actually able to run a country) can lead an SAS team - not likely!!

Superman. Because everyone else could potentially have their loyalties lie elsewhere and not be able to be as impartially just as him. Wonder Woman has her Amazons. Aquaman has Atlantis. Flash always has so much on his plate already with his local stuff. Everyone has potentially clashing interests. Cyborg and his father/government connections. Batman and his paranoid self. Only Clark can and has the capacity to look out for everyone. Hence him being leader.

No one should be formerly named as leader, since they are a group of peers, but as for someone who can direct members to certain conflicts; it should be Superman. Batman, as the tactician, should explain what needs to be done, and Superman as a man of action, could quickly delegate.

Batman is too busy leading Batman Inc to bother with the Justice League, he does work well as a informant though
If you ask me Adam Stange should lead the team or maybe after the H'El on Earth event is done and over with the new Oracle could lead the Justice League

Must the Justice League have a leader? I mean, don't they could work as specialists without the need of somebody telling the others what must be done? I would like to see the league as a perfect anarquist democracy. A organization so well worked than doesn't need a leadership.

Pretty much this. Although Batman is the one guy who might occasionally disobey Supes' orders, and in those cases Supes would probably agree with him anyway.

I loved the exchange in JLA that's like:
"I see you're getting more used to teamwork"
"I see you're getting more used to leadership"
"Yeah, maybe I should start ordering you around?"
"You should, if only to see how far your authority extends"

Of course, both characters are grinning throughout the whole conversation.

Team Aquaman for Justice League leader here.

He's been acting as a natural leader towards the rest of the justice league ever since the beginning.

I think it should be led by an elected council of senior members. Superman, Batman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Flash, for example. The rest of the league can vote a council member out at any time and elect a new one.
