Obviously, this comic will probably start showing the development of that aspect of her. I don't see why people are so confused as to her actions. She crashed and was all by herself, and faced with an Imperial, she did what she had to do in order to survive.

Yeah, I think they were trying for a political thriller. They just missed the mark.

I think maybe the destruction of Alderran has her pretty pissed off.

I only remember her being a Damsel in distress for some of A New Hope but she seemed to handle herself pretty well with a gun and even Wiki said she was the best shooter out of all of them (tho i would have picked Han for that)

Well. No. Shooting him once or twice was survival. Shooting him twice in the face after he was already disabled was more of a continuation of conversation 'how are you dealing with your homeworld being blown up?' with Luke.

    Answer: Not well.

Having no empathy for anyone in an Imperial uniform is probably going to be a running character trait for Leia in this series.

I bought it, and I read it, and it's a very very good first issue. It's a nice idea to start a new story just after the Death Star destruction. Brian Wood juggle with many details borrowed from the movie, so that his all new script seems to be a transposition from the screen to the comic book. It's quite fair, and fresh and fun ! And it's a pleasure to meet again Luke, Leia, and Vador - even if Leia is not exactly as she's in the movie. But it was a good idea to paint her like if she was from the 21st century, and not like a girl from the seventies !

And D'Anda's art is very close of the universe of Star Wars IV (and V too) : space ships are wonderful, and his Vador is very impressive.

One of the very first things we see her do in A New Hope is shoot a stormtrooper in the chest. For the rest of the movie, she resists torture, takes over her own rescue, shoots loads more troopers, and helps pilot the Falcon through a dogfight. While I wish she had been a pilot at Yavin, I would suggest that the only reason she wasn't shown as a "ground soldier" is because there was no opportunity for "soldiering" in that first film.

Mr Wood i am really honored. Would you consider doing anything else in SW? There are places in the galaxy and time perieods that are pretty empty where you would not be bogged down by continuity.

Actually, Brian Wood said somewhere that this is the exact SW era he had wanted to work in, because it's specifically the time frame, characters and continuity that he knows best.

    Really.

I hope he changes his mind, but he made me enjoy these overused characters.

the logic conclusion about vader knowing should be about the killing of the lars family. even a none force sensitive would have bells ringing. wait, where did jawas sold these droids?
and there must been records on tatooine on a luke skywalker if he applied or was about to enlist to the acadamy.
a young man who mysteriously disappeared

it actually should be pretty easy to investigate. and storywise it would bring up ghosts from the past. i´d like that better than rebels traitor or propaganda twist

Good point, I'd also like to see some reference to the mini named 'Vader's Quest' from over a decade ago in which he does some investigating into just who was the pilot that blew up the Death Star.

My biggest gripe was the inclusion of Palpatine, actually. I realize the films exist in a vacuum and a comic series "bridging them" wants access to all the goodies, but thinking about it as a cohesive whole, showing Palpatine before the reveal in Empire is a total buzzkill on the "WHOA THE EMPEROR!" nature of meeting him for the first time. Not that his oversaturation in the Prequels/Clone Wars haven't already gone crazy with it. I mean, I suppose he is the top public figure in a huge Galactic organization.

COULD NOT have been more pleased!!! this is taking place ta the perfect time...will be lots of fun...and I like that we will have an "in" that the characters don't. LOVED it...and so glad Leia will be seen this way...a little more action-hero.
