I really like Aaron's plot progression in this title. Everytime I read an issue I always forget that it's just a 20-page comic as it feels like a lot of story has been packed into it. Clearly this is the best Marvel NOW! book in my opinion.

As for the issue, the last page felt very epic. Hopefully the next issue will reveal what really happened in the cave with young Thor and Gorr.

Aaron is KILLING it on Thor. Holy cow. Finally got this issue yesterday, and it was awesome.

This comic is amazing. Seriously, it actually feels like a tale straight out of Norse mythology. Thor is actually being written AS a god, and that's something that's been missing for a long time.

And man, Gorr is truly frightening, and also really pissing me off, actually, because with Thor being a god, and all of these gods that Gorr is murdering, it just seems so wrong. It seems terribly wrong to watch Gorr kill immortals, to watch him kill these eternal and divine beings in cold blood. It's a testament to Aaron's writing I think, that he really captures the feel of Thor and these other gods being sacred, holy beings, and thus makes their slaughtering seem really, really just wrong on every level.

    Awesome comic and I can't wait for # 5.

This is easily one of the best NOW.

I missed this thread earlier-- let me just say-- this series, and this issue was "wow!" The ending was a very neat twist, one that I was totally not expecting. If anything, the quality of the series works against Aaron. I'm just having difficulty believing he's going to continue this-- it's a magic show, it's not real. At some point he's going to say "and now for my last trick of the night..." and we'll all groan cause now it means we have to drive home.

Or will Aaron keep it up? I haven't read Scalped, and I wasn't a huge fan of WatXM or his Hulk run, but I understand some people are. Is this unusually good for him or what?

In any case-- I was so, so wrong to have doubted him on his Thor run back when it was announced, and I'm happy to say that.

When it comes to his mainstream-work, yeah, kind of unusually good. But Scalped has always been of a similar high quality, when he truly does his thing, he's up there with the greatest.

He's kind of like Fraction when it comes to mainstream, ALWAYS unbelievably brilliant when it comes to Indies, but terribly uneven when it comes to the mainstream.

Hulk was his weakest book, Thor is his greatest, and WatXM falls somewhere in-between. Some of it has been really good tho'. But only that kind of regular good, that most of the top Marvel-books are.

Cool. Thanks. I'm thinking that I may have to check out Scalped. I won't say anything like "I'm getting tired of cape comics" because I'm not, but I am looking to add something different to my reading line up, and Scalped was very well reviewed. Since he's doing such a great job on Thor I should give it a try.

Agreed. Between the MCU making the gods simply aliens, the advent of Omega mutants, focus on street-level heroes and Thor's...rather lackluster showings as of late, it's really hard to have any sense of wonder or divinity from the Asgardians or any other guys lately, but this book seems to be putting it back in Thor's universe.

I've always liked the character of Thor but I've never enjoyed any of the previous runs. Jms and fraction were shit in my opinion and simonson is overrated. Thank you Mr. Aaron for giving me a Thor comic to enjoy!! I just hope he keeps the stories focused on Thor and not the goof troop three or some hill billy in a diner.

At least some kiddos will be growing up with EMH Cartoon Thor as their most familiar version.

That's a Thor who soloed the Wrecking Crew, soloed the Red Hulk, bested an invasion of skyscraper-sized Jotun single-handedly, defeated an entire Kree army on their own soil and put Galactus on his knees.
