Default Über, new ongoing by Kieron Gillen in Avatar

The artist is going to be someone called Caanan White.

Nazi superheroes... or just supernazis, something like that.

It's Gillen, Am I the only one interested?

More information (and pretty covers) here, here, and here.

PD: It's published by Avatar, so maybe you would like to keep it away from kids...

The premise sounds fun and the art looks great. I'm picking up #0 and seeing where it goes from there.

Not sure on this really. Avatar dont tend to put out stuff im interested in. Even when they get high profile creators their work at Avatar seems subpar (Ennis). Its like the editors say; "hey this issues great, but do you thing you could take these pages of story out, put em in next issue and replace with a kickass gore-fest scene!? Great!"

    Wait n see, i guess.

April? Well, if I still remember it's coming out that month I'll give the first issue a read at least.

Uber #0 what a confusing story this is. I had no idea what was going on. The artwork was good, and that is the only good thing i can say about this book. I say you can just skip getting this book. Spend your money on something else.

WOw, I was completely unaware this was coming out. I'll try to pick up a copy if my LCS has availability.

Was just gonna make a thread. Really good start, as repulsive as it started, haha. A gripping in to an arms race story, and I loved what Gillen had to say in the backmatter. Worth following if you don't mind generic art.

I agree it was really confusing and not that great. But its just setting the background. I'm sure issue 1 will start introducing characters and a direction which will hopefully kick start it. I'm giving it a few more issues. Gillen's JiM was so good I'm prepared to give this the benefit of the doubt. Regarding the art, it was pretty, but the layouts didn't really work for me. They need a better flow.

I'll have a look to that issue. Could be good, but could also be... "flattering".

I found an other link, with an interview of Canaan White.

From that interview which is dated Feb 19:

Second, I haven’t spoken to Kieron personally, but from emails and the things I’ve read online, he’s a “pretty swell guy!”
How can you draw a book without ever talking to the writer? This goes a long way to explaining the disconnect I felt with the words on the page and the art.

It happens more often than youd think. Since writers and artists can live on different continents these days they often only communicate via e-mail, or the artist is entirly dependent on the annotated script.

It's how creators work at Avatar Press. Writer and artist have only contact through the editor.

I liked it. I really got a kick out of the Russian female sniper reference. I noticed a couple other little touches (mattresses) that really showed some thought out research applied smartly to the story Gillen wanted to tell

I kinda assumed the choppy presentation was on purpose. Perhaps not and it will improve. Kieron seems like guy who would ignore the above mentioned avatar editorial contact thing. I was able to follow along the story well enough. As always great quality feeling book from avatar press. Mine has a different cover, I always find that intriguing

Great letter at the end by Gillen.. He is so good at those
