If they do bring Peter back, they should find a way to show that he can go more than just be Spider-Man. But taking him back to that loner status won't work anymore since they've already progressed him from being a member of the Avengers & Future Foundation to a respectable scientist at Horizon.

Spidey was pretty unique being a loner and misunderstood once. If he's just a respected Avenger and a cool scientist, he loses much of what made him stick out. Peter Parker is talented, but he also has that dreaded "Parker luck". He can't be just another action figure!

The same can be applied to Kaine Parker. Marvel might as well hire Frank Miller to writer a Spider-Man story arc with the "Parker Luck" as he did with Daredevil when he had him homeless.
