Since politics is a sensitive issue in comics I'm not really sure what Superman's politics is except he doesn't want any one to die.

Heh, excellent point. Being President would be a huge step down for Superman.
Bruce could likely make better use of the office, but could you really see him leaving Gotham and being surrounded by Secret Service, at all hours?
I think the new question should be "why the hell would either of these heroes want to burden themselves with the U.S. Presidency?"

Bruce is unstable. Superman is a nearly perfect hero but there's no way I'd want a man with that much power in the White House. It would disturb the balance of power around the world, and I honestly believe Clark would hate the job. Action Comics #9 showed us what it would be like if Superman was President; the idea of Brainiac sitting in for Cal while he's off saving the world is not comforting. Did the people elect an alien and his supercomputer robot stand-in? I don't think so.
Superman can be First Gentleman.

Irene: “Twice.”
isn't superman a illegal alien considering how he came from krypton
There was a Silver Age story where Jimmy was knocked unconscious and dreamed Superman was president. He balanced the budget by finding sunken pirate treasure. It was awesome.
“I love you Lois Lane. Until the end of time.”- All Star Superman
Superman all the way. The ultimate compassionate individual fighting for truth and justice. Standing up to govt corruption like in his first appearance. But willing to stand up to bullies and any one who picks on the little guy.
I agree with exactly what he said.If Superman was real, being President would be a complete waste of his time. Whichever party he affiliated himself with, the opposition party would keep him from ever accomplishing anything and make him look like an ineffectual tool. And the 18 hours a day he wasted being filibustered and otherwise c-blocked by slimy career politicians in the pocket of special interests, he could have instead been out actually helping people.
Detective Chimp for president. He'd put those scumbags in their place.
