I think that Marvel waffles between the sexy ninja version of Betsy that jumps from one guy to another fairly quickly, and then the cultured English lady that stays with one guy for a bit...Betsy hooked up with Neal greatly to help make his character seem more important...if anything you could say that Betsy got scared by how serious things were getting with Warren then her flirtation and Warren's jealousy got out of hand...as most agree that their breakup was terribly written, making both look bad. And now Remender and the new writer have just switched Neal for Fantomex, using Betsy to give their golden boy a boost in his popularity...

Warren and Betsy both put the brave and stern front but are both very loving behind that, and neither seems to care about color of skin or anything like that, as Warren has dated women of all races...now I believe that Remender remade Fantomex into the guy that he thinks that Betsy should be with, and the new writer has just followed along, here's hoping that they don't get together in the new Uncanny X-Force...Betsy needs to be on a different team and away from Fantomex, her time with Warren when Remender wasn't writing them was good for Warren/Betsy imho, they make each other better, and there's not an imbalance in the couple like with many other X-couples, they're equal partners in the pairing and can trust each other, remember also that Warren gave up a piece of his soul to save Betsy, meaning that he shortened his life so that she would live back in the Crimson Dawn Saga...but right now Marvel is giving Fantomex a big push kind of like what they're doing with Scott but not to that degree...I'll go now.................................

Why are you always "going". I think you make some very valid points. Though if I may add a bit not only to what you wrote but to what others wrote as well.

Tom was the guy for Betsy, had he lived he would have been the number one guy in her life. Unfortunately he's dead and I highly doubt we will ever see him again.

Therefore Warren has become that guy. I just think the whole relationship makes sense. They both had a similar upbringing, and come from similar backgrounds. They both have been through very traumatic experiences in their lives. While they have dated other people, they ultimately end up back together. Some around here think that their relationship is dysfunctional and that they don't go well together and are using Remender's X-Force as an example. What some overlook is that Remender needed it to be dysfunctional. He needed the relationship to be full of turmoil, he had to have it on a shaky foundation. It was a big part of The Dark Angel Saga. She wasn't with him because she was attracted to the death persona as some claim, she was with him because she cared about him. She was trying to prevent it from taking over Warren. It was her sole reason for being in X-Force. She promised to help him, once she killed him she failed at that. In the Marvel Universe the X-Man relationships are the most dysfunctional of all. While Warren and Elizabeth may have had their problems, they certainly weren't the worst X couple. When the relationship wasn't full of dysfunction I think they were both happy.

As for Elizabeth's current relationship with Fantomex. I don't really like it mainly because it feels so forced. It feels like Rick Remender took his two favorite characters and had them shack up. On top of that it's all built on manipulation and lies. Fantomex used his misdirection to get her to doubt not only herself but her relationship with Warren. Even he himself told her that during the otherworld arc. He was mentally preparing her to kill Warren just in case. When he calls her out on being needed that was just a load of bull. Then when Warren dies you have them pretty much cast him aside with little to no impact on Psylocke and soon thereafter she jumps into bed with Fantomex. He goes after her when she's emotionally vulnerable. She herself admits to not caring about Fantomex afterward yet when he dies she supposedly loves him and wants to avenge him. Where did this come from? You also have the fact that Fanto supposedly is madly in love with Betsy yet he sleeps with Mystique knowingly. He better keep that mask on because if Betsy finds out I think she'll kick him to the curb, that is to say if she hasn't done so all ready in Humphries X-Force.

For now I think Elizabeth should be alone. Let her stand up on her own two feet with no one hindering or assisting her. Show that she can be strong without any guy. Perhaps more importantly have her deal with some unresolved issues on her own.

It's LoganAlpha's thing, just like Justin Braddock's was to have awesome purple text.

Yeah, I just end all of my posts with that phrase...

As for Warren and Betsy C_W said it pretty well I'd say, yeah Remender made their messy relationship the focus of the book because he wanted it messy, later on he said that he killed Warren off partially because in his view no X-couple got happily ever after...that and like Neal before him Remender wanted to pair his golden boy up with Betsy to give him a boost...as for Betsy no she doesn't need to be with a guy, my only comment was that if she's with any guy I'd want it to be Warren...right now what she probably has to figure out is how bad Fantomex is for her and how all of her feelings are rushed, forced, and based on lie after lie, and yeah Fantomex's deep feelings for her came out of the blue, up until Remender Fantomex was basically hitting on every hot X-lady that he met, and Betsy didn't give him a second thought until after Warren died and she lost her sadness/grief..so yeah you could say that he took advantage of her, basically Fantomex wants Betsy, whether fully herself or not, doesn't sound like love to me, sounds like a conquest that he'll grow tired of and move on to someone else, here's hoping that in the new book Betsy kicks him to the curb and it stays that way between them.

Warren isn't shallow or all moody unless it's intentional by the writer, when he was with Betsy for the most part Warren became his old self, leaving the brooding and shallowness behind him, Betsy even teased him about it from time to time, and that bit where he catches her before she hits the ground was only after she intentionally threw herself off of the building so that he'd have to catch her.

Like I've said elsewhere, unless Fantomex and Betsy don't get together then the book is basically being written from Remender's already existing outline...Remender in that respect seems a lot like Carey back when he wrote Rogue and Magneto as a couple, if anybody had a problem with it he'd basically just stick his tongue out at you and say that he's the writer...

Yeah Betsy needs to figure some things out, though most of those things were what Remender did to her...perhaps getting her head on straight she'll dropkick Fantomex out of her life and settle down so to speak before Warren inevitably returns and they can get back together.

How about men and women like sex, without all the social BS, and can still be moral! Wolverine is a fairly moral man even with all the fighting and killing he does. Same with Betsy. Morals aren't tied to vagina's and penises. Psylocke can shack up and still be a moral center for a team. She doesn't need another to define her,

Besides she's got Spiral/Mojo for that!
I don't think she needs a man just because I like shipping her with Kurt. The reason I like Burtsy is that they were portrayed as equals and made a good fighting team. Kurt would be someone to respect her strength, I just think they'd make a hot couple. I agree, it would be nice for her to take a break from relationships. Kurt can come later if he returns from the dead. Besides when Kurt comes back he'll probably be feeling so shocked by whats happened with everyone romance might not be the first thing on his mind as well. Burtsy could be friends with benefits.

I don't see Kurt as the friends with benefits kind of guy, unless it was a woman that he barely saw, I just think that given some people's views of Betsy's romantic past...thanks in no small part to Remender, and her outfit that some get a negative view of her, and the best way to change that and show people that's she's not the stereotype of herself is for her to be in a long term and stable relationship with a great guy that she works well with, and their wordplay is always fun to read when done right, I just fear that the new writer is double talking and will somehow get Fantomex and Betsy together, or make thier will they won't they romance the focus of the book...mixing in a few "cool" phrases for Betsy to say, basically all shock and no substance, I haven't like the idea of Fantomex and Betsy since day one, before Remender's first issue...and I still don't like it now, I"m afraid that this new Uncanny X-Force will not fix Betsy or give her the time to settle herself and figure things out, it'll instead only mess her up further...possibly making it Betsy's mission to reunite the three Fantomex's into the man that she out of the blue suddenly is in love with, I'll only be surprised if they don't get together. Warren and Betsy were portrayed as equals and made a good fighting team, and Warren respected her strength, he always did, and they'd make and made a hot couple...I just have the idea that Kurt would be best with someone different than Betsy, he has several ex-girlfriends that he could look up when he returns...though given the current state of Marvel i doubt that it'll be anytime soon...so here's hoping for some good Betsy stories before Warren returns and they get back together, like they should be, as I like watching characters go through storylines while together, it gives them a different set of circumstances than if they were single...and the problem with having a character be single is then how long and when have they gotten enough characterization that people would want them back into a relationship, it's different for each person...W/B Warpath/Siryn Sam/Tabitha I'll go now....................................

I honestly don't hate Burtsy, but I don't think it's that substantially different from Betsy/Hank (the REAL McCoy, not the chronic PIS victim we're getting in ANXM), and given real!Hank's awful, awful luck with love, my sympathies lean a little more toward him than the smooth, suave ladies'-man Kurt.

Loganalpha's version of WarBetts would also be awesome. Regrettably, Marvel will never write an Angel cool enough to fit the bill.
