I have read and enjoyed the two Jack Kirby Black Panther books and I was wondering if the Hudlin series is worth a look. I really liked Kirby's epic adventure feel that he brought to Panther and I am looking for something similar.

It's somewhat different than those runs. There is an undercurrent of social commentary, but there is some just plain old adventuring mixed into the Hudlin run, i just read Three the hard way myself, and it was very entertaining for an old school fan like myself. Not to forget the the controversy of the Panther Marriage
Comfortably numb is my state of being!
Interesting. The first book, "Who is the Black Panther," seems like it has a good story. I think Ill go for that one.
I'm going to say it's generally a mixed bag. People love it, people hate it. I think the series started off a bit weak but gradually got better as you can see Hudlin's writing of the character, etc, improving. It gets really fun towards the second half of his run. A recommended arc that seems to be favorites of people are Bad Mutha (The New Orleans team up) and the Dimension hopping arcs with the Fantastic 4.
While I feel the initially arcs were a bit weak, I still find things to enjoy from them.

I recommend it, It was due to Hudlins run that I got into BP in the 1st place and thats not to say it's the best but it made me realize BP is bad ass!
"It would trouble me if you believed you were ever my equal"
I've almost got the whole thing and have been enjoying it. I have all of Liss's run and finally found a comic shop with Priest run. Which I have been digging into quite a bit. I got the Hudlin run because my best friend owns and runs the comic shop I go to and that's all the ones he had in stock. He told me he couldn't keep enough of the Priest run to even have any back issues.
"That's not just "one man"! That's TONY FREAKING STARK. You're intel should've warned us that he was James Bond and "Q" wrapped in the same guy!" Cobra
It's kind of hit and miss.
His continuity and characterization at times is pretty questionable at times. But overall it was a fairly fun book, despite the justifiable criticism it gets. I sort of equate it to a lot of Loebs stuff.
I think there are better BP runs (Priest and Liss top my personal list), but you can make an arguement that Hudlin's was a bit closer to Kirbys run.
This is why I recommend you read it for yourself and make your own judgement. Everyone has an opinion about it and I'd rather you read it and make your own. Alot of people, myself included liked it. Some didn't. While some don't like Hudlin's writing and there were areas where he could have improved, I liked that he put T'Challa on the big stage and didn't give us a watered down character.
If you count mini's I'd say Klaws of the Panther was worse.
But yeah... of the on-going BP books, I'd personally put Hudlin's run at the bottom of the list. That's not even a huge knock against Hudlin, as Priest and Liss had runs which can be favorably held up against any run of any book.
Wow. You guys have certainly given me a lot to think about. Decisions, Decisions
