I don't mind the sexy witches scenario. Look at it like this. You encounter a creepy old hag then your first instinct would be to run like hell. With an attractive witch their attractiveness is there to make you drop your guard so they can hex you. They are like a metaphor for predators. They appear nice and charming but the minute your guard is dropped they turn ugly really fast.
As far as the film itself go I still say it lacks the charm that Brothers Grimm carried from the looks of things. If theres anything that may turn me off of the movie is the dialogue. The bits I got from the trailers and tv spots are dreadful.

I found this fairly entertaining. It didn't aspire to greatness, but I think it succeeded in the way it intended. It was a cliche film - the plot, the dialogue, the characterization - done many times before. I liked it more than both of the recent Titan films, which I found to be boring.
I also found it funny that the sheriff from this film was also in Brothers Grimm. I wonder if they didn't seek him out specifically for this film.
Also, I liked the combination of prosthetics and CGI for Edward the Troll. He was large and imposing yet still expressive. Of course he didn't have the mobility of a completely CGI Hulk but they made it work. It gave me hope that we could yet get a decent Thing on screen eventually.
For what I paid for it ($5), it was worth it.

Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!
Name one American action movie where a female lead received as much of a beatdown as Gretel did. Mind you she was able to fight pretty well too, but I was surprised by how much of a beating she took.
$5.50 here, so I think I got my money's worth too.
