Some other options:
Try to find out if there's a Half Price Books near you. They often have a great selection of trades, not just at half price, either. Some go for as little as a dollar.
You can also try the nick and dent sales at http://www.tfaw.com/Graphic-Novels/Nick-And-Dent. These are supposedly damaged copies, but I've bought tons and never saw any glaring flaws.
And don't give up on Amazon. Amazon's prices aren't that cheap, but Amazon Marketplace Sellers are often letting books go for as little a dollar. Even a penny. Even with shipping that's a deal. Just look for the "new and used" offers on the book's page.
I second TFAW nick and dent selection. Mine tend to come in perfect condition as well. I find Amazon's discounts to be great, unbeatable even. They're my first choice for a new trade. Also look for used copies on eBay

Pfff.
There'd be single books retailing for a lot more than $80, but there'd also be gazillions of books getting offered at significant discounts. Old books or supposedly unhot books. At any comic shops, or either on eBay.
I can go into a comic shop and buy me a ton of books for amounts like $80 or even half that.
People really shouldn't whine about comics being ridiculously priced, 'cause they really aren't.
Two bottles of fresh milk would buy you a comic. Or half a sixpack of beer at a gas station. Book collections or Trade Paperbacks obviously cost more than floppy issues. Like two Domino's pizzas. But it's more like a full meal. You can really get stuffed on that. If you lived on it, people would have to come saw or hack the house away from you.
Chillingly good stuff besides Mignola, Slint, M, Knut and really big chunks of tinfoil?Been called a 'good egg'. Been told to rock, been told to steady myself. Been told to (please) be goin' places.
Half sunk in the mud, with one eye showing / a cracked smile and hair still growing /
your hands miles apart, as if they'd never met / you were the happiest I'd seen you yet. ~ (full) lyrics to 'Exhume' by Bedhead.
hmmm, trades on Amazon.ca cost generally $11 to $15. Seems damn reasonable to me, especially if you factor in free shipping. My local shop doesn't come close to that for new stuff...
