Thumbs up What are your 5 favorite Independent Comics for $2.99?

    #1. Nowhere Men (Image)
    #2. Prophet (Image)
    #3. Chew (Image)
    #4. Unwritten (DC)
    #5. Saga (Image)

    -----
Well I cheated with Unwritten by DC... Marvel doesn't seem to have many at $2.99, Image and DC seem to have the most. I'm amazed that a title like Saga is $2.99 when most CB's are $3.99.

Looking forward to your findings! After all one can't buy too many $3.99 Comic Books unless very well off!

Right now I spend about $50 bucks a week on Comic Books and that's alot for most people I'd say! Then again I don't pay for Cable TV and I don't have Netflix anymore either... so it balances out.

I've reached a point that I can't or shouldn't go over 10 comic books on Wednesday. New Comics are there every week but I'm beginning to shun them!

I don't want to, but I'm poor like most Americans!

    It's sad.

Outside of Image, there are no Indies for $3, but you can get trades reasonably priced around $10-$20. The most expensive Indie company right now is IDW, they offer 4 issue trades for $18, while Dynamite and Image offer 6 issue trades between $15-$17. Even the new upstart Valiant has 4 issue trades for $10-$15.

Well if you do come across some just toss them in here... there are surely some out there! The poll up top is surely saying that a price increase would be bad for business.

Kinda limited to Image here huh? :P

    Saga
    Darkness
    Morning Glories
    Danger Club
    Haunt

And until recently, Prophet. Now 3.99 :(

As for what id pay for a comic, depends on the contents. Extra pages? Digital code? Etc.

    my top 5

    Hellboy (2.99)
    BPRD (3.50)
    The Goon(3.50)
    Saga (2.99)
    Ghost (2.99)

Usagi Yojimbo isn't on the list due to the hiatus.
The max that I've paid is 7.99 for Dark Horse Presents, but it's an 80 page anthology so it's worth the asking price. I'd only pay 3.99 if it's an indie title or a series that I really like. I also never buy double shipping titles, which is why I have zero Marvel titles on my pull-list right now.

    What does Double Shipping mean?

Comics that ship twice per month. Amazing Spiderman for instance shipped 3 times a month until it ended. At $3.99 per issue that's $12 a month just to stay current on one comic.

I honestly will wait for a lot of the ones I like to drop to $1.99 on Comixology. I will go to $2.99 but not above. I do buy some Image independents that I like for $2.99 like Saga, Storm Dogs, No Place Like Home but mostly am just patient. I also trade wait a lot on some of the independents because, to me, they make better trades than the super hero stuff. I buy two of my favorite books that way, The Goon and Chew. Reading those in trade form is just amazing.
Current Favorites: The Goon, Batgirl, Chew, Alex + Ada,The Sixth Gun, Saga, Diskordia, Think Tank, Archie, Rachel Rising, Red Sonja, X, Wonder Woman, Powerpuff Girls

    1: Invincible ($2.99)
    2: Chew ($2.99)
    3: Revival ($2.99)
    4: n/a
    5: n/a

Now, if the price wasn't a restriction then Revival wouldn't even be in my top 6 or 7...

    1: Invincible ($2.99)
    2: Chew ($2.99)
    3: Atomic Robo ($3.50)
    4: Skullkickers ($3.99)
5: Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye ($3.99)

More than happy to pay the extra buck when I actually get a high quality comic with extra story pages to match the price, unlike what I get out of Marvel or DC for $3.99
Image: 9 titles IDW: 2 titles Dynamite: 1 title Red 5: 1 title
Valiant: 2 titles Marvel: 2 titles Avatar: 1 title Vertigo: 1 title

It's interesting that in the Poll 4 people so far are willing to buy a comic at $4.99. I wonder what the percent would be with more voters? I'd think that comic book companies would like to raise that up a dollar in the future... hopefully far, far away! I wouldn't want a comic to cost as much as say, a gallon of gas, as of yet!

    Please do vote!
