I'm surprised DC hasn't done something with Green Arrow The Longbow Hunters considering all the PG-13 animated movies they put out. I guess GA in the past has been a hard sell.

I would LOVE to see either an animated or live action version of either CAPTAIN MARVEL or MARY MARVEL! But the producers would HAVE to look at the old Fawcett material and ignore any input from DC. The producers of both the SHAZAM t.v. shows of the 70s (live) and early 80s (animated) used the Fawcett stuff for a foundation and just went their own way. DC is just not qualified to discuss the Marvel Family. They are just so stuck on trying to distinguish it from Superman, Supergirl and their ilk to handle the Marvels properly. Sure, originally, Cap himself was influenced by Supes but eventually, Superman comics started imitating the Marvel Family books!
Only somebody who has respect for the original Fawcett books can contribute to making a great Marvel Family screen adaptation!

I don't think they even know about Longbow Hunters. Was it ever compiled in a TRDPBK? Black Canary was barely in it so as an adaptation it should be perfect for a Live Action version! Heck, they can feature a woman named "Dinah" and have her dress in the Canary outfit--but she needn't be another super-hero--just a girl friend with a sexy outfit. There's nothing holding it back except will power and imagination...unless Grell has some kind of royalty involved!

Yes DC released a TPB in 1991...

Looks like there's a new Doc Savage film in the works, directed with a screenplay co-written by Shane Black (he of the recent mega successful opening Iron Man 3).

Anything that's not BATMAN, SUPERMAN or JLA is a tough-to-impossible animated sell for the DCAU these days. I think they only did the 2nd GL (anthology) movie because the live action movie was coming out.
Thank goodness we got those shorts (GA included) and the DVD compliation of them.

The current Arrow series on the CW seems to draw heavily from Longbow Hunters and Green Arrow Year One, i.e. the Grell and Diggle takes on GA. THe producers have sited these two as being their main inspirations for their take. So not an adaptation, but it shows the series is not forgotten. Grell also returned to do art on some of the digital chapters of the Arrow series based on the show and collected in the Arrow comics DC is currently releasing.

The current Arrow series feels like the best take on the Green Hornet I've seen in a long time. Left a mission and fortune by his father. Becomes an outlaw to pursue Justice. Competent sidekick and friend without actually overshadowing who the hero character is supposed to be.
The property I think would be great as a tv mini-series or epic movie: Goodwin and Simonson's Manhunter. Batman can easily be written out of the last act without damaging the story. Otherwise, it's almost perfectly laid out and ready to go.
I think the character Bronze Tiger would work well in action movies. Have Richard Dragon and Rick Flagg as background supporting characters as needed.
