Well, love it or hate it, people have enough interest in Slott's last few Spidey comics that they've been leaked early. We'll see how widespread the advance info about SSM becomes relative to ASM700.

Have it all end with the death of MJ. The marriage will never be brought back anyway, MJ by herself doesn't really interact with the rest of the Marvel Universe, and the new movie series will probably feature at some point the death of Gwen Stacy. That clears the decks for Peter Parker to have another relationship that can end in death decades from now ...

Oh god. I wouldn't even want to see how the boards would look after this. I can't imagine them ever killing MJ permanently, though.

Anyways, we're probably going to have Peter back in the book at the end of #1 in some form or another. My big concern is that it will shortchange any character development we get from Otto.

My thoughts exactly. I thought the point of Superior was Spider-man through the eyes of someone other than Peter Parker. That this person would approach power and responsibility differently than Peter, how the perceived Spider-man would interact with other heroes, his personal relationships, etc. To me, it would be cheapened by having PP back so soon, either in charge of his own body again, or a some sort of Jiminy Cricket to Dock Ock.

I agree that Peter probably won't return as of the end of SS #1 for the same reason that it would cheapen the experience of our watching Ock struggle with the weight of being Spiderman, but I think that the big story of Superior is going to be Ock's gradually understanding that Peter is and always was "superior" to him. Likely we'll start to see the seeds of that revelation, but I think it will take around 12 issues before Ock admits it. I think that Ock is going to fail as Spiderman, and Peter is either going to be brought back or is going to bring himself back in order to save the day.

I also think that one of the important ways that Peter is "superior" to Ock is that he has more loyal of friends than Ock has... and that's why I imagine that SS#1 is going to show MJ or another character close to Peter realizing that something is wrong and beginning to oppose Ock.

I wouldn't be surprised if he returns at the end of SSM #1, if only because it seems a sure way to get all the people pissed at the end of #700 to jump right back in, since they all want to see Ock fall flat on his face. Which he inevitably will. That said, I do hope Marvel subverts some of the tropes they're walking with. But, yes. We all know Pete's the real 'Superior' Spider-Man. xD

Watching Ock be forced to play hero wil lbe entertaining and I *do* hope Slott carries through on him actually going through a hero's journey.

Prediction: Mary Jane, Norah Winters and Carly (can't remember her last name) go and find the golden octobot after figuring out what Ock has done... only to find Peter's consciousness missing.... just like when Mary Magdalen, Mary mother of Jesus and that other Bible lady went to Jesus' grave and found the rock moved away from the tomb.

At the same time, Ock's Spiderman can't muster the endurance and willpower to overcome the Green Goblin (or some other Big Bad). And all of a sudden Peter re-appears and turns the tide of the battle...

If Slott has planned it right, the comic could come out in time for Easter Sunday.

Solicitations indicate that Cooper will be getting curious in coming issues so I doubt we'll see her by the end of #1.

Question (sort of): Is there any chance that the gold octobot with Peter memories can put his mind into one of the Peter clones? As we know from Spider Island, Jackal continue cloning Peter after OMD and that's how he find out that Peter was Spider-Man. Also will explain why we were reminded of all the cloning thing etc?

My favourite theory stills being that Superior is Peter believing himself to be Ock, but not REALLY being ock, meaning that ock was the one that died believing to be Peter having sex with Aun May.

Good point about all the clones. I don't know if that's part of Slott's out, but the Jackal has been part of two of the most promoted Big Time stories.
