problem with young avengers is that it would be a harder story to tell than young justice....it would be hard getting mainstream viewers to care about characters they don't know and have never seen

There's no reason why relatively new characters can't become hugely succesfull. They just need to ace stuff like art, writing,...

Have to disagree, heck in Young Justice the first two seasons had multiple characters that weren't even actual sidekicks in the show and in the comics bare interacted with their main inspirations at all.

The fact is the entire set up for the Young Avengers had them not established in the books of their "mentors " because they weren't being mentored and jumped into the game on their own. The new Miss America has squat to do with Captain America other then having the patriotic theme as part of the design and Hulkling is the same, they all mostly have their own back stories that don't tie in directly to those that you would assume were their inspirations outside of Wiccan.

Young Avengers main problem is that the current cast has so few actual stories underneath their belt, you'd have to make stuff up. The most memorable and fan accepted stories are all stuff you couldn't get away with completely on a Saturday morning cartoon without removing stuff or dumbing it down. Young Justice has a wealth of teen DC characters to plug in or pull out to use, along with multiple storylines they can implement, but with Young Avengers, the core cast is such a large part of the draw, Marvel would be better off going with Avenger Academy if they wanted something similar to Young Justice with a wide variety of characters.

Meanwhile, New Warriors as a brand dies a slow death in limbo just looking at what its successors.

And what's the problem with 'making up stuff'? The YJ stories are largely made up as well.
Who would want to see the exact same stories from the comics anyway. It'd be much more fun to see them have new adventures.

As for the wealth of DC characters. Young Avengers could easily feature cameos from Avengers Academy or New Warriors or any other teen (or any of the older) Marvel heroes. There's really no reason why they couldn't.
While DC has all those characters falling under the Justice League/Teen Titan umbrella, Marvel has the exact same thing with Avengers.
And even then, why would you need them? You said it yourself. The core cast is a huge draw and there are plenty of characters there to use. A cartoon isn't made a success by having a cast of hundreds.

Such a shame. I like Young Avengers (well, I like their stories, but not many of the characters), but New Warriors was much better.

Actually, Kate only made a one-off mention that Asgardian could be seen as a pun. In a sequence where Teddy notes that neither of them know the origins of their powers, they also mention that they have no idea what their ties to the Avengers are either. Billy chose Asgardian simply because he could generate lightning and is an Avengers fanboy.

Not sure how Speed could be better he is an exact clone. Also I prefer Wanda to Wiccan.

It's a different situation but Paranorman has a gay character. I think YA would be great as a cartoon.

Well, as long as Cassie, Iron-Lad & Patriot r on d core cast den we'll watch it.

YJ doesn't work because of the mentor aspect. It's nice and sets it apart from most teen!superhero cartoon shows but it's the shows writing as to why it is so well-received.

The legacy formula of Kid ___ or ____ Boy/Girl, is lazy unto itself. Actually not having a direct connection to the hero makes them more original.

In which case YA is nothing mo dan a bunch of wanna-b Avengers bcuz if dey were going 4 original dey wud nvr hv used "Avengers" in thier group name or playing cheap imitations of d original Avengers with or without any direct connection.

I think the reason that Young Justice works and Young Avengers doesnt is because, for one thing Marvel chracters tend not to have side kicks. The New Miss America should be appearing in Captain America's ongoing replacing bucky. Hulking never really had interaction with the Hulk. There just rip offs, they should have been estlabished first in their mentors books, then put in Young Avengers , that's the winning formula.
