I guess the comparision doesn't hold for one simple point. Kitty, as well as Cyclops, for that matter, is integral part of the X-Men mythos, while Cage, Jessica Blargh Jones and Spider Woman (among others) weren't (of the Avengers, of course). It'd be more similar if he, say, pushed Cyclops, Storm or Wolverine (yeah, right, that's going to happen) to the background and installed Ursa Major as the new Professor X, or brought back that idea that the Falcon is a mutant, and have him take over the mutant revolution. Kitty may be a favorite of Bendis, but, as I said, it's not so jarring since she was already a mainstay of the team. Not a fan of Bendis, but every writer does this kind of thing. Claremont obviously favored Storm and Wolverine (among others), Fraction seemed to have a thing for Scott and Emma, and now Bendis will spotlight his favorites. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if he won't create a mutant Jessica Jones over in Uncanny and push Cyclops to the background.
Peace
