There are many songs written by this man that encapsulate different moments of my life but this one, as I approach a milestone birthday, really resonates.

It's funny, Dupie. I was away on a business trip, I was checking Post Offices for asbestos. It was in San Francisco checking on a Post Office in a bad part of town. (can I say that? bad part of town?). Anyway I got carjacked by two guys and they beat me up etc. They went through my rental car and whatever they didn't want they threw out the window, including my glasses. They tried to break the glasses in two but they were sturdy plastic horn rims like Clark Kent wore and they weren't strong enough to break them.

When I got back to the Post Office I called the cops and one cop came. He gave me a stern talking to about being in that neighborhood. I realized then that as the victim, it was all my fault. But how was I to know the neighborhood was dangerous? They didn't have signs or anything.

When I got back home I told my sad story and everyone that heard it had a similar story that ended happily because of their superior fighting ability. Again I was learning as the victim it was all my fault.

Then you came along. Now I see if I couldn't use Kung Fu on them I should have just made friends with them.

32 years later, it's still my fault. Really I should have enough sense not to tell the story.

That is just fucking terrible, Flyman. Hurts my heart to know that fuckers treated you so terribly. Thank goodness they didn't harm your perfect fucking brain. I wish their penises would explode, and that your memories of this horrible beating would fade forever. *SPARKLEHUG*

And I want to punch everyone who longs for the :good old days", good old days when the diagnosis would have been a death sentence

Pretty sure there's a helluva lot of stuff I can live without. There just comes a point where I'd become completely miserable. But to be okay, I think all I need is some form of human contact, some form of entertainment, and comfort.

What would be your last meal?

Breaded pork chop with mac & cheese, broccoli casserole, a warm blueberry muffin, and strawberry shortcake. Maybe a couple other tasty things thrown in.

What the scariest moment in your life?

I've had a lot of tense situations, but nothing truly scary. So I'll say sitting in the hospital when I was young before I found out about my heart. That was probably pretty terrifying.

I could go with a few awesome, well-known choices like Piano Man, but I think I'll say All These Years, because the lyrics are perfect.
