Default THE BAT SIGNAL: Hurwitz & Van Sciver Get Scary With "Dark Knight"

With their first arc as collaborators, "Batman: The Dark Knight" team of Gregg Hurwitz and Ethan Van Sciver plan on a "Timothy Leary Meets Charles Manson" version of Mad Hatter and twisted fun with Catwoman.

Didn't read Penguin, but I thought Hurwitz was solid enough on Moon Knight, and EVS is a pretty big artistic draw. Lessee it.

This actually sounds pretty interesting, though I'll wait for trade.

I personally prefer it when writers attempt to take full advantage of the comics medium rather than trying to storyboard a movie, but I do really appreciate them writing mad hatter as a serious threat rather than a silly cameo or a stepping stone minion working under some other villain. I don't know how long this is, but I think it could benefit from being an issue or two shorter than the scarecrow arc.

I think I also prefer EVS on batman to finch.

I think EVS's art has been kinda bad lately, I'm not really liking the preview images. I might give the first issue of the arc a shot but I continue to think the non-Batman Batman books (with the exception of Inc) just pale so much in comparison to Snyder & Capullo. I've never liked Mad Hatter either and can't say I'm too interested in the arc.

I was already down for this but drawing inspiration from a creepy guy (manson) and one of my inspirations (Leary)? That's cool

It's funny, I had thought about how Mad Hatter might be adapted into stuff like movies, and Manson was someone who did came into mind. That's pretty cool.

I didn't know that Catwoman was going to play a part. That makes a weird amount of sense--she would play the role of the Cheshire Cat. I wonder if any other story's ever played with that before; I don't think I've ever seen Selina and Jervis interact outside of group shots.

Also, I LOVE the double-page spread of the piano in the preview art. Very inventive and just well drawn.

I haven't even bothered to get the last issue of the Scarecrow arc, just not that interested in it anymore. However EVS is an artist I actually quite like (ever since his New X-Men run) and I'm intrigued by the angle they've described here and also Catwoman. So looking forward to this.

Also, this is amazing. I hope every page is THIS!

Is that Alfred! So he doesn't die in DOTF! Or does this take place before DOTF? Anyway, catwoman as Cheshire cat is intriguing. Although, Cheshire is more sane and reassuring in the movies and the books than mad and evil as the others.
