Default Ultimate Comics Spiderman #19 review by Wolverine12

    VENOM!!

    spoilers:

    - Miles is swinging around and runs out of webs
    - Ganke says he can make them and spends his Lego funds on the materials
    - JJJ is interviewed by Maria Hill about Betty Brants death, he spends the whole time talking about how great Pete was
    - Venom blows up the old OsCorp building g
    - Miles learns his dad fought Hydra because some reporter is bugging him
    - Jefferson goes outside to confront the reporter and Venom shows up
    end of spoilers

Thank God DWF/UWS is over. This issue read like a classic Bendis Ultimate Spidey. It mostly focused on Miles and his family as opposed to his Spiderman persona and I enjoyed it. I think that bendis really excels at theses type of stories. It's no secret that I haven't loved the New version of UCSM but hopefully this is a sign of things to come. I feel like I have to say that the issue left me wanting to see more of Venom, but long form story telling is how bendis has been doing this book so I'm used to it. I am certainly looking forward to the next issue.

Oh and the art was fantastic!

    Writing 7/10

I agree the art was fantastic, and I apreciate the focus on Miles' life. There were some really funny moments too, Miles being mocked in the news and him freaking out over Ganke expending all his Lego money.

One question though, the girl that was watching Miles, I asume that she is his love interest, but is she supposed to be the same girl from UCSM #12?

Sara Pichelli is back and she's killing it! Seriously, great stuff on the art side of things.

As for the writing, it's certainly an improvement from the crossover. It's just a little decompressed for my tastes, because I really want to see more from this story! I love that Bendis is starting to focus on the Morales family, and he's continuing to build towards the possible love interest from the girl in Miles' class. There's a perfect mix of character development and plot foreshadowing here, so I can't wait to see where this goes.

If anything, this made me realize how big of an interruption DWF/UWS was. The book really would be flowing much better if it hadn't been for that crossover. But at least we're back on track now, and I look forward to the rest of Venom War.

This chapter was better than all of the DWF/UWS chapters of Ultimate Spiderman. I love the emphasis on Ganke. Can't wait to see more of him. Although what was the point of cell phone notes? Everyone in highschool just texted. The teachers never found out although they probably knew.

    Great issue.

The best it's been in a while actually. I liked the interlude with Cap, and though I disliked the actual DWF story I didn't mind the Spider-Man tie ins we got in the last two issues...but this was so much better. I love how well just about every member of the supporting cast was utilized and I'm excited to see more of Venom.

    Trust me... they knew.

But who knows, maybe Miles and Ganke's school doesn't get cell service.

I like the Ultimization of Maria Hill, it's nice to see a creator of a character make a new spin thru an alternate universe, also was that Lana (Bombshell daughter) we saw? Still Black Man + Goth Girl, yes! Moar shipping!

PS. Uncle Aaron is Venom, right? Or have i forgotten how the Black Professor is related to the Morales family.

Didn't get the issue yet because my LCS is really behind in deliveries but I already voted. How about Judge? He could have something to do with this. Nobody's mentioned him on this forum for a while. And besides, Miles and Ganke keep ignoring him.

I don't think they'd bring back Uncle Aaron, at least not so soon.

Although I did thought about that at first I don't think it's Lana, I don't see her being quiet in a class lol. I kinda wonder if she's supposed to be the same girl from issue 12 that was around Miles when he was talking to Ganke (the boy has a stalker!).

Anyway, I agree, if she's indeed the love interest this should be fun!

So which one is she to Miles? Miles Gwen or Miles MJ? Because if fate has it's way whoever she is should plan incase she falls off any bridges or get eaten by carnage.

This issue was great! Such a breath of fresh air after all that DWF/UWS crap. Please please please, no more crappy events taking over Ultimate Spidey!

Wasn't Lana the same age as Peter? Also I know she went to his high school as Pete so it seems unlikely that it would be her.

I don't think it's Lana. She's just a goth girl who seems interesed in Miles.

Anyone noticed how Rio doesn't seem to like Ganke much? He always appears when she's trying to talk with Miles lol. I would like to see more of this, how did they become friends, what does Ganke's parents think of Miles and viceversa.
