To be honest, I wonder just how pressed Keatinge was to get this issue done? The creative team of Morbius was expecting to do a Thanos ongoing, and then they get the rug pulled out from under them and have to do a complete 360.

With this in mind, I think Keatinge especially should be forgiven. We may not really see him get comfortable with the character he wasn't expecting to write until a few issues in.

I think the first issue of Morbius was decent.
More of a set up story realy.
Even so i liked some aspects of the story, for example the way that the action in the story reminded me of the Streets of Rage video game.Thats due Brownsville was well defined in the direction of the stories and the countless punks that are a challenge to Morbius.
The art was cool though a bit bland in some pannels sure, but fom a storytelling prespective the art served well the story.
Hopefully by the second or third issue this gets to be more of a horror title that a title with too much characterisation.
While there are no Marvel Horror titles being published i will keep this title on my pull list, hopefully the story gest better though.
    Pull List:Uncanny Avengers,Avengers,Superior Spider-Man,Daredevil,Captain America,Thor:God of Thunder,Swamp Thing.

Thumbs up Off to a great start!

Just read this book a few moments ago and I'm astonished! This book is going on the pull list ASAP.

Not only does it have the best cover of the NOW books, but it's edited by none other than the Wack-man himself: Stephen Wacker, who also edits my other favorite comic, Scarlet Spider.

This book takes place sort of off-the-grid, which I like. Brownsville? Never heard of it.

This book isn't decompressed like alot of books from the relaunch. Every page is useful and some of the layouts were interesting.

I'm totally without words right now. Thanks, Marvel!

I'm reading the responses and they're overwhelmingy more on the negative side - which is fine as it's your opinions. But, are we reading the same book???

    Spoilers?

I was a big fan of his first couple appearances from the 70's reprints and liked him in the 90's with the midnight sons revival... What's he like now days? Does he still have his lilin powers of hypnosis and goeyness... or is he back to 'strong' 'bite/claw' and glides on wind'?

I was always a fan of that original costume too... but I'll admit it seems a bit dated now. Especially if it doesn't have a 'purpose' like a standard super hero costume... if it's just 'clothes' then it's an odd choice.
I wouldn't call it Blackmail. I prefer Extortion! The "X" makes it sound Exciting!

I would love to read this book, especially since I ordered a reading copy and two blank cover variants, but Diamond can't get it's crap together to ship them to my LCBS.

A week later, and I'm STILL waiting.

20 some odd pages and nothing happened. He got a change of clothes, ate some food out of a garbage can, and got beat up by some street punks. Now I understand why there was such a lack of promotion regarding this title. Easily the biggest let down and worst debut in the Marvel Now line.

recently got the first issue in the mail and i flipped through it(have yet to read it)while not much really seems to happen I'm still willing to give it a chance because it is a first issue and as i remember Scott Snyder's Swamp Thing didn't get my interest until issue six or seven

Morbius isn't a traditional superhero he isn't gonna be kicking ass when we begin so maybe the readers should give Joe Keatinge a break he's working with a character few writers respect and he's trying to make him a fan favorite that in itself is a difficult task

but we all knew the first issue wasn't gonna be anything special
Batman Batwoman Animal Man Swamp Thing Justice League Dark Uncanny Avengers Adventure Time Ghostbusters Fearless Defenders Superior Foes Of Spider-Man Mighty Avengers Pandora Rat Queens
