Morning all, just want to throw a quick question out there. I'm about to give my desktop a little refurb, new harddrive, fresh install etc. But what I'd like your thoughts on, is should I stick with XP or move up to Win 7. I'm happy enough replacing parts & installing windows, drivers etc, But that's about the limit of my technical knowledge, anyone have any advice? Cheers.

I have been told Microsoft is ceasing support for XP very soon. So upgrading to 7 is probably a good idea.

7's also kinda on its way out for 8; I don't think I'm going to move up to 8 but I also don't know how easy 7 is to find.

If you're keeping your existing hardware, and XP works fine for you, I'd say stick with XP. There's probably a few more security issues but as long as you keep your e-nose clean I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Or Ubuntu would be great, as long as you're not using your comp for gaming. Standard Web browsing and documents and things like that it should be perfect.
