Lincoln is a good film. A really good film with a bunch of great performances. It's old-fashioned, but that's OK.

I've heard nothing but good things about the acting. I've also heard that Spielberg's knack for visuals is still top-notch. (Which doesn't surprise me - The Adventures of Tintin had great animation, and War Horse, despite its flaws, was a gorgeous movie.).

I've never understood the appeal of the Oscars for people outside the industry.
