In reading all the stuff out there about it, I tend to agree with you. That said, that's why I said I would have preferred for Ben to stay Ben, not that I think that was their plan.

I've said this before, but I sometimes wonder what would happen had Marvel done the clone saga now. I don't think they would have backed. And though OMD accomplished the same thing, I would personally have preferred that they followed through with the plans of the Clone Saga.

Yes. Because if Marvel ended Amazing Spider-Man AGAIN and replaced him with Ben Reilly AGAIN the internet would have risen up and CHEERED at Marvel doing the EXACT SAME THING AGAIN.

When it was clear that they intended for Peter to be the original I was glad that Ben got a decisive end. But I'd have preferred Ben to be the real one, provided he reclaimed his real name, Peter Parker.

I agree with this one. It might have been better if Ben was the real Peter Parker. Thus way, the clone and Mary Jane might have had baby Mayday to take care of. Instead, Marvel killed off Ben and make the baby disappear, which was stupid. It might have made a whole lot of sense to make Ben the real Spider-Man who went into exile instead of what was conducted at the end.

I guess I'm one of the only people who is actually LOOKING FORWARD to Superior Spider-Man and the current direction. I could throw around ideas of how Ock is technically part Peter but overall I like the new direction. I don't think a clone would've provided what I wanted.

You're not the only one. I really can't wait for it to start. It's been a while since I was hyped to read spider-man. Bring on SPOCK! I'll be getting both Superior and Avenging now.
