Yeah, May was a pretty huge month for me as well. I really enjoyed tracking down all my Corben issues and exploring Lone Wolf and Cub.

Speaking of which I'm hoping to really branch out in June, Lone Wolf really opened up a whole new world for me and I'm hoping to continue exploring it. I'll probably start with stuff that is familiar to me like Gundam and Dragon Ball but I'm definitely looking to branch out from there.

I've read limited manga, but I can tell you my favorites I've stumbled across aside from Lone Wolf are Tezuka's Buddha and Tanaka's Gon.

I read Akira last year and liked it. The only other one I remember reading in it's entirety is Xenon: Heavy Metal Warrior, which had a great article at the end of each issue, but the story itself was just okay, not something I'd spend too much effort or money tracking down.

Akira is definitely on my list, I'm a big fan of the anime adaptation and have always wanted to check it out, and my library has Gon so I'm definitely going to try that as well.

I'll be curious what you think of Gon. I realized I had recommended it without mentioning its somewhat unique structure. In terms of the complete absence of words and not bothering to make sense out of the premise or how or if any of the individual stories connect to each other.

It's among my favorite comics ever. Top 30.

I really loved it's of-beat humor, and the mix of the photo realistic landscapes and animals with the more cartoonish aspects of Gon was really great as it managed to not feel out of place.

I've heard of Gon before, in the forward to one of the Age of Reptiles book the writer mentioned it rather glowingly, and I think you or someone else here mentioned it during the 12 days of Christmas so it was something in my mind but I never really followed it up until I sort of got bitten by the Manga bug and you suggested it. And then, lo and behold, my library had it in stock so it was like a perfecr storm of awesome.

For some reason while I was reading it I found myself comparing it to the animated segments in Monty Python, not really the style of the art but just it's sheer randomness. I'm definitely going to get more on my next library trip, I think they had like three or four more volumes.

SLooooooow month. Only 17 comics in 15 days due to house guests, overtime....etc.
