    1. If I remember correctly, Huntress was dosed with fear toxin.
    2. He did evaluations of villains, needed for the gauntlet that Batman went through over the course of the story. As a psychiatrist, he "figured it out" what every villain would ask for their participation and he knew where how to contact them and where to find them. He was also Elliot's child psychologist and therapist.
    3. the villains (Joker, Harley, Poison Ivy, Clayface, Killer Croc, Catwoman, Clayface) + Huntress and Jason Todd

Your dad the doctor prevented this, so now I have vowed vengeance on you, and have become a doctor myself.

That's not even golden age terrible, that's just Loeb trolling us.
I used to say this was the worst origin story for a character ever.

But then Scot Lobdell's Superboy came along and took te top spot.

Still, a pretty bad story with some decent standalone character moments, but with a terrible main character (Loeb writes Batman so poorly) and a terrible villain. Heart of Hush made the character workable, though.
Desaad: Guess they found out [Mr. Mastermind] was Holmes?

ABH-1979: Really? I don't think so. I actually liked Holmes...

I am blissfully unaware of what this is, never having read anything with the character in it. I'm kinda curious now.
'The marquis. Well, you know, to be honest, he seems a little bit dodgy to me.'
'Mm,' she agreed. 'He's a little bit dodgy in the same way that rats are a little bit covered in fur."

It's a great introduction story for people who are new to bat comics. It's a solid primer (at least it was pre-reboot) but I still suggest it to new readers because of Jim Lee's pencils and the rogue gallery. I'll normally tell people to look at year one, long Halloween, dark victory, and hush.

After the issue came out everyone was so confused about it Lobdell had to give an interview to explain the damn thing. Not even kidding.

It's even worse than Byrne's Supergirl nonsense.

Sigh... He never really did leave the 90's X-Men, did he?
