In all fairness, he doesn't really have a way of escaping someone who has better stats than him and is more than a little pissed at him. Besides, it would probably be bad for future business if he didn't get the Dragonball he came for before fleeing, and Goku'd definitely hunt him down for that.

So... I had this thing written down somewhere about Tao Pai Pai. Thought I'd share.

He is pretty well known, but... Whatever.

TAO PAI PAI

Strength

Tao's best known and most quantifiable (and most challenged) strength feat are his infamous pillar throws.

Which involves him throwing a stone column (likely mass in the hundreds of kg) towards a target location distant 2300 km at speeds of mach 7.5, if not greater.

Less quantifiable/impressive, but still rather absurd feats include:

a) killing General Blue (himself a foe solidly above 21st Tournament Krillin and who survived without injury a high speed aircraft crash with a mountain and being launched into a different time zone by Arale). Casually. With the tip of his tongue.

b) negating the two handed strength of Bora (a man with significant superhuman strength) with just three fingers of his left hand and despite Bora having better leverage.

c) casually throwing Bora very high into the air (despite the aforementioned poor leverage), then killing Bora with a lazy one-handed spear throw (despite Bora being bulletproof).

d) leaving Goku floored with a single kick.

Overall, Tao Pai Pai operates in a higher level of strength than Goku as he was at the 21st Tournament. By extrapolation, this would put him above Giran (and his toss-Goku-out-of-town strength) and leave him as a peer

Speed

Tao's best speed feat is, once again, related to his pillar throws. Namely, it is the fact that after throwing the things at supersonic speeds he can leap fast enough to catch up to them and do the rest of his trips in style.



Other than that, Tao Pai Pai's speed left Goku in awe the first time he saw him move and during the brief fight they had prior to Goku getting powered up by climbing Korin's Tower, Tao Pai Pai was able to dodge Goku's attacks and counter with total impunity thanks to his superior speed.

By extrapolation, that would leave him in a level of speed higher than Muten Roshi who had far greater trouble against Goku in the final fight of the 21st World Tournament (and casually catched the bullets shot by a machine gun in full auto firing from close range earlier in the same story arc).

Durability

Durability-wise, Tao's best feat (the most impressive one, at any rate) is surviving the full impact of Goku's Kamehameha with just clothing damage and a messed up hairdo. For reference, Goku at this point had managed to cancel one of Roshi's own Kamehamehas with his own and used another to roast a giant octopus, so the attack already packed considerable punch at this stage.



Other than that, Tao took a fairly severe beating at the hands of Goku post-Korin Tower upgrade and didn't appear to be seriously hurt, until his own bomb exploded more or less in his face.

Energy Attacks

Tao Pai Pai's main ranged attack is the Dodonpa, a highly focused ki blast later used by Tien and Chiatzu. The first time he used it, Goku was knocked out for hours after being hit and if a Dragonball hadn't shielded him partially, it might have killed him outright.

Following Goku's power-up, Tao Pai Pai tried to use it once again. In this instance, Goku was able to block it with his hands, but it still forced him back several meters and apparently left burns in the palms of his hands.

Also, as a point of minor interest, Tao Pai Pai would appear to have low power super-breath, seeing that he was able to blow away a small rock with enough force to knock down a little boy standing several meters away from his position.

Equipment

Though Tao Pai Pai appears to use his physical skills first and foremost, he carries around a couple weapons in capsules.

One capsule stores a rather durable scimitar, capable of slicing a tree in half with a single cut. It gave Tao the upper hand against the powered up Goku for a short time, but was easily broken when the power pole was brought to bear.

As for the other weapon shown, Tao Pai Pai carries an explosive of fairly serious power that he used in his final attempt to kill Goku. That went poorly for him.

comfortably above Spider-Man/Luke Cage territory. Maybe he could be a low level Iron Man rogue, or fight against an X-Team without any of the really big heavy hitters? How would he do against Remender's Uncanny X-Force crew?

He doesn't really have much feats in the manga. Was able to trounce a shocked Chiaotzu, but Tenshinhan didn't strain himself in the slightest from the effort it took took to catch and hold his fist and his sucker-slash with his hidden blade only managed to do superficial damage to Ten. Even his allegedly massively improved homing Dodonpa was casually swatted down by Ten's... I wanna say kiai. When Tenshinhan got tired of trying to reason with him, he KO'd the guy with a casual swat that was supposed to put him down for days, IIRC.
