So picked up ASM 700 yesterday at my LCS and it was already bagged and boarded for me upon purchase. Didnt even think to check out the condition, other than a quick glimpse at the cover and spine while it was still bagged. When I got home excited to read (despite varying opinions on the book itself). When I removed the book, I noticed there was a tear on the back cover .....so my question is, am I screwed, or should my LCS accept the return and give me either a refund or a better copy? I haven't even read it..........i know it could fall under buyer beware, but just wanted opinions.

I think you shouldn't worry about such trivialities. The comic won't be of financial value for at least a hundred years, if ever.

The shop should replace it. If they don't you should find another place to shop.

That said...it's a funnybook. It's still readable.

What good would that do when you could also just ask your LCS instead?

Maybe they'd still have a different copy or maybe they'd offer you your money back - depending on how courteous and sincere you'd be coming across to them?

Like everything in life: it's all basically gonna start as being up to you for you. Coming down to your person and your actions. So own up without needless delay!

I think the shop will probably replace it if they have another one. Probably would have been more likely to if you'd brought it back that day, though, at this point they have no way of knowing you didn't tear it yourself so it's just going to come down to how much emphasis they place on pleasing the customer.
