    This is a common misconception. The "corny sci-fi" era was more a product of the early 1960's than of the 1950's. These stories began appearing in early 1958 and continued until the beginning of Batman's "New Look" in mid-1964. The stories that appeared during most of the 1950's are pretty cool. And, like The Lucky One said, we've got a long way to go just to get through the 1940's. So, you don't have to worry about this for a LONG time.
