I only have the first 5 volumes because of their historical importance like character first appearance, etc. but pretty soon they'll be reprinting stuff from the 50's which had the corny sci-fi crap stories.
But those stories really had an influence on what Grant Morrison has done in Batman.
Congress shall make no law . . . abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

This is a common misconception. The "corny sci-fi" era was more a product of the early 1960's than of the 1950's. These stories began appearing in early 1958 and continued until the beginning of Batman's "New Look" in mid-1964. The stories that appeared during most of the 1950's are pretty cool. And, like The Lucky One said, we've got a long way to go just to get through the 1940's. So, you don't have to worry about this for a LONG time.
