Ditto, loved both of those shows. A very sad day. Before George Lucas, there was Gerry Anderson (I have more.collectable Gerry stuff than George stuff, might post a pic later) For kids programmes, they weren't very childish. More people died in your average Captain Scarlet episode than the entire run of the A-Team.

its a shame he doest get the love and respect he deserved he was a pioneer
I think he gets plenty of respect, just not on this side of the pond. Many of his shows and movies never made it to the U.S. But there is a lot of love for his shows and movies. Personally I have only seen "Journey to the Far Side of the Sun" and "Space:1999". Both were very good, although Journey was a bit improbable. It was still an interesting prospect.

First time i ever hear of the guy. Witch is kinda weird cause i did watch this space 1999 show when i was a kid.
Never been a big fan but well, it was one of a kind indeed and with some quite memorable episodes.
Rip.
I could never accept the premise of Space 1999, so... Thunderbirds. I never knew any of the other programs.

Thunderbirds. I loved the crafts and, of course, the characters. To me, Captain Scarlet and the Mysteryons were a distant second. Couldn't stand Space 1999 past the first season. My brother loved Supercar and something about a spaceship? Fireball something. (I was a bit too much into sf books at the time to pay much attention to the odd British stuff showing on American TV, but Thunderbirds was kind of like The Justice League and Star Trek combined, so it caught my eye and I got hooked. Lady Penelope and her butler were arguably the best characters in creation at that time.)![]()
To Sleep, perchance To Dream. The computer in Logan's Run was correct. Life after 30 isn't worth the trouble. Old age is a literal pain.
UFO was great and inspired the XCOM PC game.

My own personal favourite was TerraHawks...

The end credits were fun, too...

My favourite show was Space Precinct. I was terrified of terrahawks as a really small kid.
I've bought box sets of some of Anderson's shows and I tend to like CAPTAIN SCARLET the best by far. I like the more realistic look of those puppets and that show was edgier than most of the others. I like the SC concept the best also. THUNDERBIRDS seems to be the most popular but the few times I've tried watching it it never held my interest.
