    Default Magog/David Reid's lineage

re-reading some old JSA. I know David Reid(Magog) was said to be the great-Grandson of president Franklin D. Roosevelt. Did the comics ever explain the nature of his lineage? I don't see where the name "Reid" fits personally. If Michael Reid(David's father) was the grandson of FDR, then his last name should still be Roosevelt.

I know it's a comic book thing, but I just want to know if it was ever clarified how they were really related. FDR has a very publically known family and there are no Reids in it. But he also never knew Jay Garrick in real life, either.

It was never explained but - it's the DCU, so I wouldn't expect his parents to exist in real life, and presumably he isn't related entirely patrilinearly to FDR, meaning that along the line somewhere there was a woman Roosevelt who got married and changed her name.

i don't think it was ever explained. they really didn't even mention the Roosevelt connection very much, even in his own title.

It was simply an excuse to put him in the JSA.

when they added Magog to JSA i was irritated. i figured they would build him up and then he'd turn evil and the JSA would have to put him down. i was surprised they didn't go that direction. i enjoyed his ongoing and all his JSA appearances.

Do we have to pretend? I haven't seen him in the New 52.

I might be one of the only people that enjoyed the whole Gog story Johns did in JSA. I thought it was real good.

Yeah, Magog sucks though. Let him never haunt the pages of a comic again.
