That wasn't Jean Grey, it was the Phoenix. While the Phoenix was getting vaporized on the moon Jean was healing at the bottom of Jamaica Bay.

I'm thinking not. Galactus doesn't have a vulnerable fleshy shell which was the Phoenix's undoing. The gun that vaporized her probably reduced her to ash or even atomized her but wouldn't do much to ol' purple pants.

Guns are the Phoenixes only weakness. If only the Avengers hadn't been such pussies and had actually pumped some lead into the P5 they'd have won a lot quicker.

The gun didn't kill Phoenix. She was committing suicide. She willed herself to death. The gun was just the prosthesis for her self-annihilation.
