Well, at large, how much does the world benefit from the new found powered Spider? I can still see him using his powers for serious good.

If you define killing the crap out of every politician and journalist who feeds us crap as "serious good".

Well, he was good enough to try and stop the smiler, so that has to amount to something.

    This goes very badly.

Spider is a very moral person but he's also kind of insane, a massive drug addict, prone to fits of extreme violence and isn't above being completely ruthless to people who have angered him.

Giving him this much power is a bad thing.

Though, all that said, he likely goes back to the mountain because no one can stop him and swiftly goes insane when his supersenses mean he can't block out the daily news cycle and the political happenings of the world much less just The City.

How does the world at large in spider's universe react to knowing that there's a being with all the powers of superman running around?

Irony: One book had shown Spider under drugs/video game in which he was a caped hero. He leapt out the window and instead of flying he was falling.

Pretty much himself *mocking* himself for the silly outfit, and the point of it all.
