I'm about 1100 pages into the omnibus and I've been randomly reading bits of the Howe book but will probably sit down with it and read the whole thing very soon. Also looking forward to reading through Sandman again. Apart from a handful of assorted issues I've never re-read the series.

I bought myself Showcase Presents Batman vol.5, featuring the late 1969/early 1970 stories where Dick Grayson splits and goes off to college and the solo Batman stories begin with him operating out of Wayne's high-rise. There's a mess of stories with hunchbacks, a Man-Bat, and ghosts, making it a borderline gothic horror comic. It's exactly what I'm in the mood to read this winter.

I still have 3 gifts from friends to come that may contain more, but so far I have $170 in book store gift cards, part of which will surely go to comics. I also got seasons 3 and 4 of the old 50s George Reeves Superman show on DVD, a set of 4 Superman shot glasses, a Big Bang Theory t-shirt and a Marvel super hero bag that contained (in addition to 1 of the gift cards): a Superman notepad, Spider-Man pens, Batman thermos mug and Avengers stickers.

Note to self: Recruit better friends. And/or somehow obtain some family.

Just for the record, I used them and got Serenity: The Shepherds Tale, Doctor Who: The Widows Curse, Saucer Country volume 1, Sweet Tooth volume 4 and Dilbert: Teamwork Means You Can't Pick the Side That's Right (along with the Star Trek novel Inception, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Future, A Brief History of Science as Seen Through the Eyes of Scientific Instruments, Vanity Fair, Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me, My Booky Wook, America Again: Re-becoming the Greatness We Never Weren't and a Bunny Suicides wall calendar). Though the post-Xmas party I was invited to was cancelled because of illness, so I still haven't gotten the last 3 gifts.
