I try to work on the vague theory that when someone makes a statement or asks someone a question on a board about answering questions or debating said statements made for several pages that you can actually respond to either of those things in some fashion, but when it reaches a point of doing so and the fellow involved says "I didn't mean anyone could actually respond to them, here are some one line posts" more or less, no, it doesn't accomplish much at all.
