And yes a fictional character geared to children should always win. Once again thinking that these character are geared for adults when they are not.
Marvel comics haven't been geared towards kids in a long long time. Young Adults and Adults are the target demograph.

Hell. You could argue that they were never outright geared towards kids. Or Marvel especially wouldn't have flawed characters.

It sounds like some people have some seriously thick rose-tinted glasses for the "Good Old Days" of Comic Books.

How did Spidey win when Stan Lee killed off Captain Stacey?

Heck, half of Stan Lee's early stories with Ditko would end with Peter crying in his room.

Exactly! And he was a real big winner when his actions, or inaction as the case may be... got Uncle Ben killed.

I'm so glad Rich came here to expand on how apologetic he was for his actions.

It was a manipulative and downright disgusting thing to do. The "apologies" I've seen are disingenuous at best. I used to enjoy Lying In The Gutters; and though I lost interest in Bleeding Cool early on, I'd continue to pop in every now and again to see what was up. I won't be able to do that anymore without being reminded of this incident, so I'll just avoid the site altogether. I'm sure my occasional click-through won't be missed, but I'll certainly feel better about it.

Yeah, I've been doing this over twenty years now.

Unfortunate? Please. It's not like you made the mistake of posting the story. You knew exactly how it was going to be taken. Hence the "Umm..."
It seemed to go down as intended initially. Indeed, I worked with Marvel PR on the wording, and they were happy with final wording of the article. Certainly wasn't intended to be snarky, tactless or mean spirited. But one specific individual interpreted it in a way it was not intended and launched a Rich Johnston Revenge Squad. It happens.

I did not use a child's suffering to propogate any agenda. For a start I didn't have any agenda.

Y'know, I've been a comics fan all of my life but have never even heard of "Bleeding Cool" except in this thread. I was going to check it out but I have lost even the tiniest bit of interest.
