    can't really narrow it down to just five, but here are my favorite indie books atm, in no order:

    Star Trek
    The Walking Dead
    Locke & Key
    Conan The Barbarian
    Shadowman
    X-O Manowar
    The Strain
    Warlord Of Mars (although this isn't as good anymore as it was when it started...)
    American Vampire (can Vertigo really be considered independent though?)
