she's really really not. don't judge a book by its cover. when i heard that she was Bendis' idea, i was just as non-plus'd.

Don't let one character stop you from trying this book. I really didn't want to like it because I see no reason for Scott Lang. But the book is really good.

Issue #2 was my second favorite book this week only behind UXF #35 and just ahead of Thor: GoT #3.
Captain Universe is not Monica Rambeau. Monica Rambeau is not in Avengers.

The first issue didn't exactly blow me away, either. Also, Marvel has so many great books out right now, that even with dropping all the Spiderman titles (thanks to all that BS) the wallet doesn't have room for this. Like the Hawkeye series, hopefully the TPBs will be cheap on Amazon and I can catch up later.
Of course, Darla herself isn't stupid, she's just in over her head (so the concept may seem stupid); and as you noted due to developments in Spider-Man's life, he is not available, or if this takes the place before the incident, he's still occupied.
Johnny Storm was dead; who is this resurrected Johnny Storm?

Allred seems like a great fit for this book. I'm really liking his art on this book, to me it just looks great.

I don't see how anyone can not get the genius of Miss Thing -- MISS THING~!

It's a hot chick in a Thing costume. Totally in line with Allred/Fraction's senses of humour. This isn't just a superhero book.

The strength of Allred as an artist, in my opinion, is his comical abilities. Just look at that first issue... the facial expressions on Franklin and Valeria just kill me. In issue 2, the poses of Leech and Artie climbing Darla like a jungle gym, the DRAGON MAN, and the Mole Man sewer creature... I'm in love with this book. The tone, the art. Fraction is having a great resurrection as of late, thanks in large part of course to great artists like Allred and Aja.

Dragotta's definitely a great choice to spell Mike, but Jaime Hernandez was Mike's fill-in on I, Zombie, so he'd be my dream choice.
