Default Should Green Lantern be getting back-ups?

I saw this topic raised elsewhere (on this forum, I think) and I started thinking about it today. As DC's second most popular franchise after Batman (at least the last time I checked), it seems odd that the main Green Lantern title doesn't include back-ups like Batman or Action Comics or Justice League (and soon JLA). So, do you guys think that it should? And, if so, who do you think would be a good fit to write these back-ups?

Doesn't matter to me since I won't buy the damn thing as long as Geoff Johns is till writing it.
Besides, you WANT DC to raise the price on the book to $3.99?

It would mean a $3.99 price tag, so no.

    NO!

Please someone delete this thread before some DC executive sees it and think is a good idea to increase the price!
Comic Books are fun, Comic Book fans not so much.

I've stopped buying the Green Lantern books for a bit, but if I go back and the main title costs $3.99, then I probably won't buy it. I prefer the $2.99 price tag, and one of the reasons I haven't gotten into Batman now is the $3.99 price tag.

If it means someone other than Johns is writing Hal Jordan, then yes, absolutely.

If they must force backups into it, Johns should at least be the writer.

I hate backups, unless it's being written by the writer of the main feature, then it's essentially part of the main story. I'm reading Action because Morrison is writing, while some of the backups are good, they're unnecessary filler I'd rather not pay for.

I wouldn't mind a GLC backup written by the writer of the main series and cancel GLC. That book is but a shadow of what it used to be.

Adding a dollar to the price tag would give me a strong reason to drop the comic.

I largely agree; I stopped reading GLC some time back. The weird thing is, Tomasi is a better writer than the book demonstrates. Which may have to do with playing in the mega-event splash-pool. But at a skill level, his character beats are similar to Geoff Johns in that they can be too obvious and cloying - but to an even worse degree.

I did like the alien Lantern spotlight back ups they had in the early 80s, maybe 1 of the GL books could add those.
Pull List; seems to be too long to fit in my sig...
