Just curious, when people trade-wait - do they buy the trade online or at the comic store? The reason I ask is my comic store caters to the TPB reader with very few single issue comics. All they have is the new releases every Wednesday. How can they expect to stay afloat? Are there more trade-waiters than comic book buyers?

Well, I can't speak for anyone but myself, (fortunately, I'm pretty awesome), but I buy the trade from the store, in most cases. (I do work at a bookstore, but my LCS offers a trade discount comparable to my employee discount, so unless the price disparity is just huge, I opt to support my buddy who runs the store.) My LCS seems to do briskly in both, but I generally see more comics sold than trades.
I'm not sure I understand "due to finances, I'll wait for the trade." Aren't most collections these days more expensive than if you had bought the single issues?

I see. My LCS offers no discounts on trades. They cater to the new customer or gift giver: "I heard Iron Man is a good comic, do you have any Iron Man books?" Thing is, Amazon almost always offers 30% off so I don't know how my LCS surrives? How many new customers are looking to buy trades and stumble into this store?

Oh, my bad; I didn't note my buying habits. On titles I really enjoy (Amazing, Remender's Venom, Synder's Batman), I usually buy the issues as they come, and the collected editions later. (And then turn around and eBay the issues, usually breaking even.) So, in the past I was willing to pay more not to have to wait for the new content. (And the fun of participating in discussions on the new issues.) But I'm starting my master's program next month, and won't have the extra cash (or time, most likely) to do so.
Sorry; would have been a lot clearer if I'd explained that part up front. ^^;
remember, no discussing what you thought of asm 700 until wednesday
define "a while".
Because fact of the matter is when you ask a DC fan to explain to you who Superman is the answer is easy as Clark Kent is the only superman that matters and all thei have to do is tell you who Clark is. For the Flash on the other hand its a real possibility that when you ask a DC fan to explain to you who the Flash is that their first response will be "which Flash?, Wally or Barry?". In this way the entity known as Superman is a real character while the entity known as Flash is not (the Flash is a mere costume).
Death of Superman?, DC never put out any illusions that somebody else was going to be superman permanently.
You must have read a much different version of that storyline than just about everyone else. Of course, there was never any doubt that Superman would return, but for a short while, both the cyborg and the eradicator (him in particular) were written as potentially being the real deal.
