I'll play it by ear Depending on how Superior Spider-man is
I understand you are frustrated with some of the online fanbase but it would be nice if you didn't group everybody together like that.
I never said a new Spider-Man would suck, I love Miles Morales more than I ever did Ultimate Peter. I approved of OMD and BND is going to go down as one of my all time favorite runs. Flash as Venom and everything that has been done with Kaine have been amazing changes.
Dan Slott is one of my favorite writers, I wanted him to get the solo spot on Amazing and I'm glad he did. I don't like some of his stories (loved War of the Goblins recently though, Spider-Island was his best so far) and new supporting cast members (pretty much anything involving Horizon) but overall, I'm not calling for his head.
I'm going to read Superior and it's probably going to be pretty interesting. I don't know if I'll approve of the guy behind the mask but I do love passing of the mantle stories.
I don't have any axe to grind against you or anything, Steve. Sorry if I gave you that impression or came on too strong with my opinions elsewhere.

I'm beginning to think that Hell is a comic book forum.

I wrote a blog on science and superheroes! Check it out, if you'd like! http://thoughtfulconduit.com/whatdoesthismean/?p=186

I've been reading ASM since about 1980 and I have to say that this probably THE most daring status quo change ever. Total game changer. Better yet, it doesn't even remotely feel as contrived as OMD/BND. It's shockingly different, but very exciting. Honestly, for those of you in an uproar, just consider the "permanence" of this change. As cool/bad as this twist is, nothing in comics is permanent. Your icons always return to baseline eventually. In this case, expect the old norm to (regrettably) return just in time for the next movie. Still, I'm gonna enjoy the ride while it lasts. Should be a blast. Definitely my favorite post-OMD issue. Slott should be taking a bow.
Good eye.
Can't believe I missed that the first time. Heh.

I'll gladly sign my name to everything that I say...
Marvel comics, Spidey, it all means something. Maybe it's just comics to you, but to me it's what's been there for me for most of my life when I'm not out playing music... I've been stuck in the Navy (I know, I know, I signed the line, my own decision) but still...
Even at 28, I'm getting digital and physical copies of everything Ben Reilly, because though he might be just a character to you, he was more to me... Ben was something that I actually had that I could relate to, especially when I was younger and staring at the abyss during one of the worst times in life... Ben and Kaine kinda were an example to me... potential, I guess... The Scarlet Spider symbol is getting tattoo'd on my wrist in two weeks because it's going to remind me every day that even though I might not always be a good person, I'm trying, and even when things are at their worst, each of us makes this difference in the web of life so to speak, even if it's indirectly. Steve, these comics aren't just stories to all of us, but something that we grew up with and meant something to us, and I hope that maybe deep down you get that...
Well I am committed to the first 38 issues of Superior because of a subscription. If it is good, I'll renew it.

Though that would also mean he is lying about that.
Hm...I DID post something telling people not to directly insult you as it was unnecessary but its gone. So I don't need to be called smug, I don't feel smug about it. Marvel invented the slow but sure crushing of any belief in anything they do by default and instilled in their readers a heavy dose of cynicism concerning their promises. So every time someone dies and they trot it out as "THE BIGGEST EVENT EVER", people who have ever read a comic before lose a little more faith in you because they know you are lying to them. No one believed Cap was dead, but frankly that was a good decision, Bucky was a better Captain America. That Cap was ultimately brought back in the time gun retcon is what left a sour taste in my mouth (and yes it was a retcon, he was shot and Thor spoke with his ghost at one point), mostly because it was just a bad story and it meant the end of Bucky Cap.
When Slott was adamant that the Spider-Sense was gone, you roll your eyes because its a fundamental part of his character and the marketing of said character, so it is never going anywhere for a long period of time. It's like saying that Batman's parents really just went on vacation without him. Thus born was Home Alone Batman. If you want to come on here and say "Hey, we're doing something new, we wanted to explore a different way, we wanted to do Spider-Man without the Spider or Man" at least you're being honest and that I imagine people would be less cynical about, and as I said in another topic, Parker has been such a pill about anything remotely fun, a new Spider-Man will be a fun change.
But don't tell me Parker isn't coming back like you don't already have a series of points written down on how to get from here to there. Well maybe not you personally.
I am interested in this idea. It seems like somthing you wanted to during 52. with a certain flying rat theme hero missing and person who is two sides of the same coin protecting the city.
