Default Dan slott receives death threats?

    http://www.bleedingcool.com/2012/12/...-man-plotline/

    I'm pretty sure it's over Amazing #700.

Slott said he'll go into hiding after that issue, looks like he might actually have to.

Seriously though, this is pretty disgraceful and I'm ashamed that people can act this over comic books.

Shame on the people doing that.
It is just stupid people getting all this worked up over comic books.

It is crazy that Dan Slott is getting death threats over this stuff BUT I can't really say that I'm all that surprised as there will always be those handfuls of people out there that take whatever hobby they choose to participate in way to seriously.

Completely unacceptable. You would think, especially after last Friday's tragedy, that people could keep things in perspective. There is no need to wish death or tragedy on anyone. This is an absolute disgrace.

People are understandably upset over this. by their nature, fans get emotionally attached to things they love. How could they not be upset by what theyve stated is happening? And when people get upset, some of them have a tendency to say things without thinking them through. The difference between the real world and the internet, though, is that those things get documented automatically.

I'm not saying I condone death threats, but honestly: what the fuck Slott think was going to happen after ASM #700 landed or was leaked? That everybody were going to judge the book on artistic merit alone and set their feelings aside? We don't live in that world.

Yup. I've been biting my tongue the last few days, but I feel exactly the same. They knew people would be upset, they should have seen this coming.

The tragedy in Connecticut, which had Slott advocating better Mental Health care in the US only adds a certain irony to all this. A large number of people use comic books as a way to escape, and a lot of those readers are not the most stable.

Publicly saying "this is it, get used to it, it's over." about one of the most beloved characters in comic books... I'm really, really not surprised.

The way people are reacting is upsetting, but again, to not have anticipated this kind of reaction is unbelievably and sadly naive.

Perhaps he thought that people would act like people and not f***ing animals. It's not a matter of condoning it or not, that behavior is inexcusable.

But at the same time, does anyone honestly think this shit is gonna last? I mean, for years to come? Sometime in 2014, regular ol' Peter Parker will be Spider-Man again. If you're mad, skip reading Spidey for about a year and a half, enjoy the last 50 years of back-issues, and wait until the experiment is over.

Or hey, maybe you'll like this gag, who knows.

    People are animals.

And of course the behaviour is inexcusable, but saying, "people shouldn't act that way" isn't going to stop them from acting that way.

wow. so you arent going to condone death threats but you are going to try to justify it? If you feel we live in a world where that kind of reaction is to be expected then perhaps the mayan calendar thing is a good thing to hope for

    Exactly.

    Nothing justifies death threats.

People need to get a grip. It's just entertainment.

If people get so riled up by fictionalized stories then they need to get out more.
