Anyways, why is the Infinity Gauntlet even in this match other than to make it a superduper-curbstomp instead of just a regular one? Thanos canonically eats the Surfer for breakfast in every encounter they've had, including ones where Surfer surprisingly remembers to use his speed.

Which won't help him at all, thanks to Thanos being tough enough to shrug off anything he does, having sufficient control over his molecules to ignore attempts to transform him, and the capacity to clean the Surfer's clock without the infinity gauntlet.

Speed is a big deal, but when the other guy has enough oomph to basically ignore your attacks, it's not going be the winning factor.

Thanos and the Surfer have been talked out a lot on these boards, and based on their high-end feats in line with their presentation, Thanos takes this one without the Gauntlet. With it? Weeeell...makes it ridiculously easy.

And Thanos is fast enough to react to Surfer, as proven on panel.

Really REALLY? Surfer has no chance if Thanos really wants to win. You gave thanos the infinity Gauntlet. anything he wants to happen happens. Thanos can stop time for himself with a thought. He then thinks "there never was a Surfer" and there never was a surfer. Only one of the quintillion ways Thanos wins this. Thanos has already demonstrated control over his molecules to the point where he has shrugged off transmutation effects that were factors of the universes through which he travelled. Ie, universal laws.

It's generally seen around here that the Surfer isn't going to pull off a transmutation against him.
