Just read it. Good issue, but not a lot happens - next issue is the main event. As for the Wonder Swords....they're interesting. There will be....opinions.

Even in an issue that is mainly talking, Azz is still writing one of the best comics DC had. And Chiang just OWNS.

Yeah, it's no big deal. I realize she has weapons of her own, but I think it's cool that, other than her lasso and bracers (and tiara, if that's a weapon) she generally doesn't feel the need to bring them with her (in this book). Until now, the only times she actually uses swords in this book were issues 1 (when she picks up and uses the centaurs's sword outside Zola's house), 8 (when she borrows a sword from Heph), and 0 (when she borrows one from War). Somehow, having them be found borrowed emphasizes for me that swords are just weapons she uses once in a while, not really HER weapon in the sense in which the lasso is her weapon. But again, no big deal.

Lennox's mention of how Zeus' power sometimes run bad in the blood--and his ominously emphasized phrase "as you know"--gave me a hunch that, whether we see it or not, we'll at least hear about god mode and its dangers pretty soon.
I'm not sorry she uses a sword. At least not for the same reasons most people seem to be! I just don't think it's necessary! For a regular Amazon maybe a sword is fitting (and perhaps even appropriate) but for someone of WW's power?! What on earth for? That would be like me carrying around a piece of paper to inflict paper-cuts as a defense tactic. Next thing you know, we'll be seeing The Hulk carrying a sword around too.

I think Lennox's mention of Zeus's power ("..as you know") is just referring to her being powerful, period. Without his parentage, she'd be a 'regular' non-superpowered amazon with only her 'training'.

Will she use the "God Mode/Berzerker Rage" again? I think it's interesting, albeit 'unnecessary', really. It would take a more detailed writer than Azzarello to do it without having it come off as a major "HUNH??". It really does need to be explained at least once.

    Bloody hell.

    Cliff Chiang, you genius.
I actually suspect that this design was largely Azzarello's, what with the Chicago connection and all. There really are a ton of details that fit Willis to a tee, from his odd fascination with fast food slogans to the hand-drawn cityscapes on his wall. It's an odd detail, but it ties the mythology of this title to the real world in a way that wouldn't be possible with a cast of just Greek gods and DC heroes.
